Not quite 11am but we got to the airport early to sort out an ESTA issue which was sorted quickly so now we have a couple of hours to kill… so excited (apart from the 10 hour flight). Next post will be state side :)

My dream has become a reality and it is all thanks to you. 🙏❤️ You probably don't realise it, but all your support, likes, comments and shares helps me do what I do. 👍💬

I don't say it as much as I should, but I am so grateful for all the support you show me. I wouldn't be doing what I am doing without you and I almost certainly wouldn't be travelling to somewhere I've always wanted to go to photograph some of the most amazing landscapes in the world - somewhere I've dreamt of going since being a child. 🌍💭

With all your continued support on this photography page, it means I have been extremely lucky to not have to pay for this trip! 🥹🙏

The trip: ✈️🇺🇸
We fly into Colorado before heading towards Utah, Arizona and New Mexico to explore the National Parks such as Zion NP, Monument Valley, Arches NP, etc. 🏜️🏔️📸 We are tent camping in the National Parks ⛺️, most of which are in the High Desert where temperatures will range from over 30 degrees C during the day to close to freezing at night.

I hope you will all enjoy following me on this amazing journey and hopefully I will get to share some incredible photography with you. 📷🌄

Gower covers just 73 square miles, but is home to 83 scheduled ancient monuments! One of the most well known is Arthur’s Stone (Maen Ceti) on Cefn Bryn. It is a Neolithic Burial Chamber that dates to around 2500BC and takes its name from the legend of King Arthur, although no bones have ever been found. It was one of the first sites to be protected by the Ancient Monuments Act of 1882.

There are several legends connected with Arthur’s Stone, one being that it was a pebble found in King Arthur’s shoe. However, the capstone, which weighs in excess of 25 tonnes, is an erratic deposited by a glacier in the Ice Age. An erratic is a rock different in size and type of the local area. The Neolithic tomb was dug under it and propped up with slabs to form the burial chamber

Mass grave on Gower...

Caesar was a merchant vessel which had been requisitioned for naval service. It was on a mission to press gang men into service – a legal way to force men to serve in the Army or Navy, also called Impressment. In November 1760, with a large complement of press ganged men imprisoned below decks, the Caesar left Mumbles and ran into trouble with bad weather. The sister vessel, Reeves, turned back to Mumbles, but the captain of the Caesar was sure he could secure an anchorage.

However, they struck rocks and it was wrecked in a gully now called Caesar’s Hole. More than 60 men escaped but around 80 people didn’t survive, mainly those who were below deck. Their bodies were later recovered and taken to the nearest patch of ground that could be dug. The site of the mass grave was marked with a circle of stones, still seen here today.

I wasn't sure this would work...

Looking towards Swansea at night is never good for light pollution and the Milky Way was a little too far to the right hand side, but I wanted the coast path in the photo.

This is just on from Caswell Bay, towards Langland.
