OMG....finally hit the jackpot with regards to Otter photography....i was over at Croggan pier yesterday on a lovely calm sunny day .....about 400 yards away and coming around the headland i saw the Dog Otter making his way towards me.......every time he dived i moved off the embankment and slowly made my way down to the shore side rocks where i wedged myself between two of them .......after about half and hour he came swimming along about ten yards off the shore when suddenly he just turned and swam directly towards me ..........the adrenaline was in full flow i can tell you and i dont know how i got the shots as i was shaking like a leaf with excitement........the Otter seemed to be looking at me all the time as it approached but i just stayed perfectly still.....when he got about 6 feet away from me he sort of reared up a little bit like he was surprised but was not alarmed as he stayed directly next to me for a couple of minutes....he then went on his way and to my amazement he came back again a few minutes later........i did check all the rocks nearby for spraints in case i had seated myself near one but i hadnt.......this Otter clearly new i was there but still lingered in the area for about another half hour.......
