Eurasian Kestrel (Falco Tinnunculus)

Conservation Status (UK) - Amber

The Eurasian Kestrel, also known as the Common Kestrel, the European Kestrel or the Old World Kestrel, is my absolute favourite animal on the entire planet. I love all wildlife, but these beauties are number one for me. It was a joy to be able to observe them today. It was five hours well spent. I will be reeling about this for a long time.

The breeding season is fairly wearing on now, with a lot of young terns and gulls on the wing. It's amazing to think this young tern will probably fly south of Australia before doing a loop in the Great Southern Ocean and returning to the Northern Hemisphere in the first year of its time.

**Exciting News**

During my visit to Lunga, I was fortunate to observe a Razorbill, which had been ringed on its right leg. Upon further inspection, this bird is believed to be at least 25 years old, after it was ringed as an adult in 2002! Razorbills, on average, live to 13 years old!

This year was my second time on the Isle of Staffa, my second time visiting the Isle of Iona, my first time on the Isle of Lunga, and my fourth time on the Isle of Mull.

It was a particularly beautiful experience, given that the weather was rather agreeable throughout the three days I was in Oban and on the islands. The wildlife did not disappoint.

Here are two Atlantic Puffins (Fratercula Arctica) that I observed on Lunga.
