Dawn, bursting with light, clouds and mirrored water in Newlyn Harbour at high tide for a really lovely morning. Half an hour earlier it was pink and purple and just as gorgeous.

Beached boats slowly decaying on the side of the River Orwell at Pin Mill. These old cargo vessels have a mood and timelessness all of their own and the long exposure adds to their sense of mystery.

After two years I’m really excited to have gone live with my Surrey Landscapes Book! It has 40 of my favourite photographs of the county’s countryside and the foreword is written by Charlie Waite, one of the world’s leading landscape photographers.

To help with the printing I am now crowd funding on Indiegogo, giving early-bird supporters a discount and other special bonuses.

Last of the autumn needles raining down on me for this visit to Binton Wood. Swatting friendly midges away from the camera must have looked quite bizarre from the footpath - people hurried away muttering "nutter" under their breath!

I hope this newsletter finds you well and in good spirits in these odd times. My wife Clare and I are once again opening our garden studios to the public, later than the usual June programme, but with just as much great art.

The Open Studios run from 19th September to the 4th October.

During the open studios we will be open between 11am and 5pm every Friday, Saturday & Sunday (19-20, 25-27 September and 2-4 October)

For the last 18 months I have been working on a project making landscape images from around Surrey and will be showing some of these, both framed and unframed, during the open studios.

This project is also the focus of a coffee table book, "Surrey Landscapes", which I will be publishing early next year. There will be a sample copy on display during the open studios together with an option to sign up for further information on how to obtain a half price copy as part of my crowdfunding initiative.

Clare will be exhibiting new oil paintings from recent trips to Cornwall as well as work of the local area.

This is our 6th year of opening and we have once again teamed up with six local artists to create the Golden Valley Arts Trail in our area. You can pick up a flyer from us to see when the other artists on our trail are open.

Across the whole of Surrey there are 109 studios and 159 artists opening and whilst there are no brochures this year, if you would like to find out more, visit the SAOS website or their useful interactive map where you can search by area, artist name, medium, trails and much more.
