Ploughing by steam by cable and by direct traction was demonstrated. It was fantastic to the see the huge ex Mozambique Sena Sugar Estates Fowler Z7 No. 15670 on its last outing on its current boiler ticket. The Z7 was paired with a crawler instead of a sister engine as would have been back in the day. We also had the rare treat of seeing direct traction steam ploughing with a purpose built Ransomes export engine 'Ruby'

I am rather partial to crawler tractors at heritage events. I respect their owners efforts to get them moved on trailers everywhere. I love that the smoke and steam is giving that sense of hard work with their engines going at it hard. cc Aubrey Sheppard

This digger was working to shift a manure heap from A to B. What made this tricky was that there were a lot of distracting background details. To the left we had the caravans and horse lorries. To the right we had a port-a-loo and bright Orange Chamberlain tractor. I am rather pleased with the shot of the operators smiling face through the lattice work of the jib whilst all is in motion.
I'll remember this exhibit as we met on the eye of a bend on Greens Norton road going opposite directions on the way home on Sunday. I came to an abrupt stop and with millimeters to spare my driver's side wing mirror got knocked back by the rear corner of the low loader trailer, but my car escaped and the mirror recovered!

Formation ploughing with reversible ploughs that allow the tractors to change direction and keep turning the soil in one direction. The tractors are often 'classic' tractors with quiet cabs. The quiet cab regulations came in for new tractors in 1976. Sue Casebrook
🤪Some of the creative images are down to my accidentally knocking my camera into the cross processing special effect mode for about 50 photos. It made the images look washed in bleached. So I took the better ones and tried a few black and white conversions and variations of that.

These intriguing beasties can be great fun to photograph or frustrating. Trying to find shutter speeds that convey motion as well as pin sharp detail. Trying to find angles that minimize background clutter and use the light well. Trying to find details and quirky behaviours like water erupting from the cooling tank.
