A couple of weeks ago, Aimee and I were lucky enough to be out surfing when a pod of Orcas came to say hi!
I happened to do a cutback right at the start of this clip and saw a dark figure directly under me, my initial thought was did I just surf over a shark?
Well I was gladly mistaken, I looked back and saw the water swirling behind the wave, then looked back down the line and saw a ginormous Orca fin coming right towards me and a smaller one sharing the wave with me.
Excitement took over and I threw my hands up in the air and cheered, I genuinely couldn’t believe what was happening! To top it all off it was my Birthday!
I rushed out the back to see Aimee have another Orca swim right underneath her, pop up and release a massive spray out of the blowhole, so close I watched the water spray Aimee!
Upon coming in from that session we could quite comprehend how amazing that entire scenario was. Just as I thought the day couldn’t get any better, Jacob Haverland | New Zealand turned up and told me he got my wave on video from a drone.
Truly a memory I will cherish for ever!
