The Robens Pioneer 2EX looking right at home on Slemish. ⛺️

It’s a beast of a tent and an absolute palace inside.

Definitely worth carrying up a small mountain for the extra space and comfort, although I wouldn’t fancy dragging it up anything much bigger! 😂

For this night on Slemish though, it was spot on.

The Robens Pioneer 2EX really is a beast of a tent. ⛺️😂

If you’re new to the channel, let me know what you think of it.

It’s an absolute palace inside and, for a small summit like Slemish, I reckon it’s well worth carrying the extra weight for the space and comfort.

Would I carry it much higher?

Probably not! 😂

But for this wild camp, it was the perfect choice.

After a quick chat with a local farmer, it was time to get the fleece on.

The temperature was dropping as the evening moved on, but that’s all part of wild camping.

Stephen was settling in with a Kinnegar Thumper Double IPA while we enjoyed the summit and the views. 🍺⛰️

Not a bad place to spend an evening.

After a quick chat with a local farmer, it was time to layer up.

The temperature was starting to drop, so the fleece was coming out and we headed back towards the summit.

Stephen had himself a Kinnegar Thumper Double IPA to enjoy while taking in the evening on Slemish. 🍺⛰️

A pretty good way to spend an evening on the mountain.

My food for the night on Slemish. 🎒⛰️

The goodie bag contains a toffee pudding, ham and cheese Rollitos, saucy teriyaki noodles, oat burst porridge and the trusty Frodo for breakfast.

Starting with the noodles tonight while enjoying the views from the summit.

Simple camping food, but I wouldn’t swap that view for any restaurant! 😂

Let’s see what’s in my wild camping goodie bag! 🎒😂

Supplies include a toffee pudding, ham and cheese Rollitos, saucy teriyaki noodles for dinner, oat burst porridge for breakfast and, of course, the trusty Frodo.

I’m starting with the saucy teriyaki noodles while sitting on the summit of Slemish and taking in the views.

Not exactly fine dining, but food always tastes better on a mountain! 😂⛰️

Out exploring Slemish summit with Stephen and taking in the views. ⛰️

The tents are looking nicely positioned for the evening, and it’s always good seeing camp from a different angle once everything is set up.

We could see a few cars pulling into the car park below too.

Maybe a few sunset chasers heading up?

We had other priorities though…

Dinner! 😂

Follow along for the next one.

A bit of exploring around the summit of Slemish with Stephen. ⛰️

The views are class, and seeing the two tents sitting nicely on the mountain for the night is a pretty good sight.

Looking down towards the car park, we could see a few cars starting to arrive.

Maybe people heading up to catch the sunset?

For us, it was nearly dinner time.

Follow along for that one next. 👀

Dinner on the summit of Slemish. ⛰️

Stephen had himself some spicy chilli Mi Goreng noodles and chicken, while I opted for a tin of Fanta.

Not too many people about on the summit on this evening, which made it a great place to sit and enjoy the views.

It’s a funky little summit and definitely different from what Stephen and myself are used to in the Mournes.

Really glad we decided to give Slemish a go.

Dinner with a view on the summit of Slemish. ⛰️

Stephen was having spicy chilli Mi Goreng noodles with some chicken, while I went for the much more sophisticated option… a tin of Fanta! 😂

There weren’t too many people around this evening, so we had plenty of space to enjoy the summit.

Slemish is a funky little mountain and something completely different from the Mournes that we’re much more used to.

Really enjoying experiencing somewhere new.
