Documenting History: VE80 Celebrations Stage Build 🇬🇧🎉

Client:

One of the highlights of our work was capturing the massive bespoke stage for the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Horse Guards Parade, Central London 🏛️. Turning this iconic space into a live concert venue was no small feat — and being there to document it was a real privilege.

The project:
• Star Live built a huge stage over several days for a BBC broadcast 📺, with a VIP audience including the King and Queen 👑
• Our brief: photograph and film every stage of the build — from the main stage to the King’s viewing platforms and retiring rooms
• Strict security protocols — correct accreditation, ID checks, and health & safety compliance were essential 🔒

Over three scorching days ☀️, we captured:
• Dramatic stills and video for a 30-second case study 🎥
• Hero shots from a cherry picker 🚡 (drones weren’t possible due to nearby high-profile buildings)
• Exclusive behind-the-scenes access, including the King’s retiring rooms — a surreal and unforgettable moment ✨

Documenting this build was more than just photography — it was a front-row seat to history, showcasing the skill, precision, and dedication of the Star Live team. Moments like this are what make our work so rewarding ❤️.

Building a Landmark Exhibition in Battersea Park 🏗️✨

From December 2024 to May 2025, I worked with Star Group Live to document the construction of a fully demountable, two-storey exhibition space for Singaporean event company Neon Global, set against the iconic Battersea Power Station.

The space launched with the Jurassic Park Experience 🦖 and required careful documentation from the ground up — interior, exterior, drone footage, and a 4-minute case study film featuring interviews with key stakeholders.

Key highlights:
• 15 site visits across all seasons — navigating train strikes, London Underground, and strict wildlife and privacy considerations 🐦
• Drone operations in complex airspace — near Battersea Heliport and London City Airport ✈️
• Exclusive access under strict H&S protocols, PPE, and risk assessments
• Capturing construction techniques, materials, and key components — essential for marketing, client reference, and future relocation to the Middle East 🌍

This project was our largest and most logistically complex to date, offering a unique behind-the-scenes look at large-scale, innovative event infrastructure.

Working closely with park authorities, contractors, and Neon Global, we ensured smooth operations while creating visually striking and commercially valuable imagery.

For event professionals, architects, brand agencies, and temporary structure suppliers, high-quality documentation isn’t just marketing — it’s proof of expertise, operational excellence, and meticulous planning.
