Late evening yesterday I took a trip to see the urban foxes, took three eggs from home, my first time doing so. What a game between them :) one of them found, hid each egg as another sibling came along stole one and sloped off in the long grass .. very fox like :)

Not able to get out this week with the camera and darkness arrives sooner every evening, sat in front of the desktop I opened up an old folder from May and discovered some clips that perhaps got overlooked, I am not even sure I opened this folder of video. :) Anyway a quick edit together and create another four minutes of foxy fun. Those short legs made them a bit unstable and wobbly. :) Hopefully people will smile and let this old footage brighten up their day or night depending where you are in the world when you watch it :)

Yesterday evening I decided to go look for Tawny owls, not seen or heard one in a while. So I went to a location that I had seen some before and scanned the trees with thermal scope. I spent a long time finding only squirrels and pigeons in the trees. I had almost ran out of daylight when I came across a tall fir that had four heat signatures, more pigeon/squirrel shapes except one of was different it was a squat round shape with a very hot facial disc indicating an owl. I could see nothing with the naked eye, I had walked under this same tree earlier in better light. I lifted the camera to where the thermal showed something and there was a Tawny owl preening quietly. It was too dark for good photography, so I switched to video and captured (handheld apologies for camera movement) a couple of minutes of the owl (a female I believe) getting itself ready for a night hunting. It was sat on a branch hard up against the trunk sheltering from the prevailing wind. I left happy that I had at least found what I was hoping for the elusive Tawny owl.

I only took eight pictures this morning :) 🐶📷 it was too dark and overcast and video works better in poor light. Quickly took this damp looking foxy photo as it came through the wet grass, you might notice water droplets in the fur.

Yesterday's heavy rain and more overnight has transformed life for foxes in town. I woke up while it was still very dark and got in position to see how things might have changed. One fox was crossing the road when I arrived clearly it had visited the gardens of residents. I wandered in and sat quietly briefly glimpsing it again before it ran off. It took a long time to reappear, arriving first as another sibling ran up from behind. The minutes passed and they hardly noticed me in my makeshift hide, they only stopped to look up in my direction if I accidently made a noise. Then two more arrived but further away, a bit too distant unfortunately, but good count the four of them still together. Below is about two minute video of the first to arrive, clearly braver than the others and only only forty feet from my hide :) They all looked a bit damp but otherwise well.
