Breaking News!

I've moved to a new studio in Norwich!

Thanks go to Colin Failes, Director at Saxon Digital Services for offering me space in Saxon House, their production facility on Hellesdon Park Road.
Thanks also to my helping hands on the day of the move - Ashley Cashfield and Rob Tasker, the man with the van.
So it's business as usual, but from a different location (that's closer for my clients).

I recently spent a very enjoyable (and sunny!) day at ROARR! Dinosaur Adventure in Lenwade on a marketing shoot.

Did I mention I have my own studio - perfect for product photography? 🤔

It's pretty good for shooting tiny things right up to quite big things. Really big thing have to be done somewhere else, though 😁

Which is ok 'cos I can pack up my kit and take it to where the really big things are.

I'm getting a lot of enquiries about corporate headshot photography at the moment, which is great as I really enjoy this sort of work. The challenge of getting someone from, "I really don't know why the company want us allti do this. I hate having my picture taken", to "I enjoyed that! Love the pic!" is one I relish and it's rewarding to get that kind of feedback.

Doesn't happen 100% of the time, mind you. Only about 99% 😄

WEBSITE ISSUES!!

It has come to my attention that my website https://www.chrisball.photography
doesn't load correctly on some Apple devices and that the gallery doesn't work at all!
Note to self... When building a website, check it on all platforms! Rookie error on my part 🙄
Anyway; currently being investigated and full service should be available soon.
Shame nobody told me. Or was it just that noone has looked at it in order to spot the problem? 😁
Oh, and if you want a look and are by a PC or Android phone, go for it!

Should photographers be concerned about the rise of AI? Same applies for graphic designers/arists, copywriters and others in the creative industries.

Although AI created images and text have their flaws that reveal their true origins at the moment, it won't be long before these tell-tale errors are ironed out and computer generated creations will be indistinguishable from those created by real people. Or, as they (we) were referred to in Star Trek-The Movie, 'carbon based life forms'. 😳

Anybody want to buy some cameras? 😜

Tony Jacobs from Faraday Motion Controls (https://www.faradaymotioncontrols.co.uk/) and I had a very enjoyable day in the studio last week shooting some creative product imagery for use on his new website, currently being built by Bigfork in Norwich.
It's always fun creating interesting images of uninteresting (no offence!) subject matter and I think we managed to get some nice pics! Some on plain backgrounds, some cut-outs and some with a bit of colour.

Built between 1407 and 1413 Norwich Guildhall is England’s largest provincial medieval city hall and was the centre of city government from the early 15th century until its replacement by City Hall in 1938.
I believe it is possible to tour this amazing building on certain dates of the year but if you fancy having a look from your armchair before booking in to see the real thing at some stage, here is a virtual tour I created on the 30th of June 2017.

Really interesting shoot on behalf of Burton (MIAT) whose company CWB Electrical Engineers Ltd designed and help fit the electrical installation of a bespoke Sled Crash Test lighting gantry for Mirus Aircraft Seating in Hingham, Norfolk.

It's a Generation 3 Crashworthiness lighting system, commissioned in December 2022 and it is one of the most efficient systems of its kind in Europe, delivering 110,000 lux using only 45kW!

A tad larger (and brighter!) than the lights I normally use!
