Measurement aint vanity - it’s directional

Vanity metrics are easy. Real insight wins when you dig into the 𝑤ℎ𝑦

A video might hit 100k views—but if your avg view duration is 10 seconds, it’s not converting.

Instead, focus on retention rates and engagement hotspots. Where are people dropping off? Where are they re-watching? Blend those metrics with qualitative cues -comments, shares, DMs.

Use those insights to tweak your next hook, pacing, or CTAs. It aint about perfection. It’s about learning faster than your audience scrolls.

And it's something we've been practising with our productions, like this fashion film!

📢 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐬. 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭... 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞?! 📢

Had such an exciting client kick-off meeting with a wellness brand- crafting their visual journey. Now we’ve gotta get our creative thinking caps on, whilst we do so, here are some cool things we’ve learned recently that ya might wanna know, a quick guide to help you understand the difference between content marketing and marketing content and MAX your strategy, let’s gooooo...

🔍 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠... This is all about creating valuable, relevant content to attract and retain a specific audience. Think educational blogs, white papers, webinars... anything that positions your brand as a thought leader. The goal is to build trust and drive profitable customer actions without overtly selling. Subtle.

🎯 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭... These are the assets you use to promote your brand... social media posts, email campaigns, ads, etc. It’s more direct and often promotional, aiming to convert leads into customers. Overt.

🚀 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠...

𝐵𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑎 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑛... Start with a communications audit. What’s working? What’s not? Use this to shape a consistent strategy.
𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑙 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑦... Not all content suits every platform. Use LinkedIn for industry insights (which is obviously why ur here haha), Facebook for community engagement, and Twitter for quick updates.
𝑈𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑠... Collaborate with influencers your target audience follows. This amplifies your reach and adds credibility.
𝑈𝑠𝑒𝑟-𝐺𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡 (𝑈𝐺𝐶)... Encourage your customers to share their experiences. UGC builds authenticity and trust. Look at LEGO’s as a brilliant example.
𝑆𝐸𝑂 𝑖𝑠 𝑘𝑒𝑦𝑦𝑦𝑦... Regularly publishing valuable content boosts your SEO, helping your brand rank higher in search results.

✍️ 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄...

𝐼𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑦𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑑 𝑠𝑡𝑦𝑙𝑒... Start with the most important info to hook readers.
𝐶𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦... Headlines should make readers want to learn more.
𝑈𝑠𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑠... Back up your claims with facts and figures-credibility is everything.
𝐼𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑑𝑒 𝑎 𝐶𝑇𝐴... Every piece should guide the reader towards a next step, whether it’s downloading a white paper, signing up for a webinar, or following your page.

So yeah, remember, content marketing is about building relationships. Keep your content consistent, valuable, and engaging, and watch your audience...and ROI...grow. Thank us later!!

There's a rhythm to a good shoot.

Not one you hear - one you feel.

It starts with the call sheet, the kit, the recce.

Then the crew arrive. Someone cracks a joke. Someone gets the coffee order wrong.

And slowlyyyy, things click into place.

This montage is a little window into that rhythm - the movement, the reactions, the moments in-between.

The stuff that don’t make it into the final cut, but shapes everything about how the final cut feels.

We’ve always said creativity is a team sport.

Here’s that team in action.

STUNNIN' STUFF!! This film beautifully captures the untamed spirit of Iceland’s highlands with stunning cinematography. Gusts from the Highlands is a great example of how creative work can transcend mere aesthetics to offer deeper reflections on our relationship with nature. Food for thought innit...

🌟 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬? 🌟

As marketers, our aim is often to change opinions about our products. But if we think about it, how effective are facts alone?? 💭

Want to hear something SHOCKING? Bombarding someone with facts rarely shifts their views...

A study showed that when people were corrected with factual information about a misconception, 98% stuck to their original beliefs. Even when proven wrong, they held firm. 𝐖𝐡𝐲? Because our opinions shape how we interpret facts, not the other way around (how interesting 🤔)....

𝑆𝑜, ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑤𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑠? 𝐻𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑐𝑘 𝑡𝑖𝑝𝑠...

🗣 𝐀𝐬𝐤, 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥... Instead of lecturing, ask people to EXPLAIN their beliefs. When they try to break down their reasoning, they may realise they know less than they thought. This opens them up to brand new perspectives.

🤝 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝... Bringing opposing groups together works best when you highlight shared values, not differences. Emphasise what you have in common to build understanding and rapport. New besties alert!! 💅

💬 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟𝐬... Instead of just dragging onnnnn listing product features, you can align your message with beliefs your audience already holds... this makes it easier for you and more effective. Here’s an example of this... Oral-B doesn’t just blurt out lots of toothbrush facts... they emphasise that most dentists recommend their product, utilising preconceived trust in professionals.

Basically, stripped back facts alone very rarely change minds. 𝑇𝑜 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑢𝑎𝑑𝑒, 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑣𝑒 𝑔𝑜𝑡𝑡𝑎 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑓𝑠 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦 ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑑. Come on, you got this!!

How we spot the “skip moment”

Most videos have a dip. A point where the viewer drops off, skips forward, or bounces altogether.

When editing, we’ll focus group it, scan the watch-through data and look for those “skip moments.”
Then we cut them out.

It’s often a slow transition, too much setup, or a second intro.

If someone skips it, it probably didn’t need to be there.

Your viewer is the best editor you’ve got – if you listen.

And we were so happy to put this to the test for this video for University of Nottingham which we focus-grouped with a gang of Gen Alphas to see what worked best for 'em!

🧠 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄! 🧠

Sketched ideas with an e-learning organisation on how to capture their creative spirit. Time to reflect on our production plan, anyways, we took a few pages out of Storr’s Science of Storytelling to guide our initial character crafting journey, so here’s some stuff for you too...

So, in storytelling, a character’s personality aint just in their words or actions- it’s literally in everything around them. From how they handle traffic jams to their reaction to a bee, every detail can reveal who they truly are… Do they get road rage or do they take the opportunity to jam out to their fave tunes? It’s all in the detailssss.

🏡 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫...

Human environments are RICH with clues. People make identity claims through certificates, books, tattoos, and meaningful objects. These tell us how they want to be perceived.

Feeling regulators like motivational posters or scented candles give insights into what keeps them motivated, calm, or nostalgic. Cared-for, healthy plants or dusty fake ones?

Behavioural residue-the things we accidentally leave behind-like a stashed wine bottle (oopsie) or torn-up manuscript, 😗✌️tells the story of what’s really going on behind the scenes.

🛋 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞... In Notes on a Scandal, Zoë Heller brilliantly contrasts two characters through their home environments. Barbara Covett’s meticulously clean but emotionally sterile flat reflects her loneliness and need for control. Meanwhile, Sheba Hart’s cluttered, chaotic home reveals a carefree, messy personality.

👀 𝐍𝐢𝐢𝐢𝐢𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬...

When crafting brand stories or customer personas, think about the environment your character or audience inhabits. What do their spaces say about them? Sprinkle this in to add depth and authenticity to your narratives.

Whether you’re designing a campaign or writing copy, consider the subtle details that can make a character or brand feel more relatable and real.

Your audience’s surroundings are a window into their world-use it to tell a story which resonates. 🌟

🚀 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬!

Are your marketing projects take longer and cost more than expected?? You're deffo not alone - most of us fall into the planning fallacy, where we underestimate challenges and overestimate our ability to deliver. There's a way to beat this trap though... 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑂𝑢𝑡𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒 𝑉𝑖𝑒𝑤.

🔍 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰? Instead of relying solely on your own project plan (the Inside View), the Outside View pushes you to look at similar past projects to predict outcomes. It’s about basing your expectations on real-world data rather than best-case scenarios (makes sense, right?).

💡 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑡𝑜 𝑈𝑠𝑒 𝐼𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔...

🔸𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠... Identify similar past campaigns or projects. For example, if you’re launching a new product, look at past product launches within your company or industry.

🔸𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬... Gather data on how those campaigns performed - budget overruns, timeline delays, engagement metrics - and use this to set realistic expectations.

🔸𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧... Consider specific factors that might make your project easier or harder than the reference cases. Adjust your forecasts accordingly.

📊 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝐼𝑡 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑠... By grounding your predictions in reality, you’re less likely to fall into the trap of thinking, “This time will be different.” It helps you plan for unknowns, set aside sufficient resources, and ultimately, deliver more consistent results.

🎯 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩... If you wanna smash your next campaign, start planning with an Outside View. You’ll be amazed at how it sharpens your expectations and sets you up for success.
