🎬⚡️ 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝟓 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨...
Capturing some sickkk shots for a new about page video...your website is the first impression potential customers have of your brand - make it count! 🖥️ Here’s some stuff we’ve learnt about websites from this project...

5 must-haves to ensure your site converts browsers into buyers...

1️⃣𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝... When visitors land on your site, they should instantly understand what you offer. Keep it simple and customer-focused. For example, instead of a vague tagline, be direct... “We Make You a Pro at Gardening”🌱

2️⃣ 𝐎𝐛𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧... Don’t make visitors search for how to take the next step. Place a bright, clear “Buy Now” or contact button at the top right and centre of your site. Repeat it to ensure it stands out. 🛒

3️⃣ 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬... Show happy, satisfied customers using your product. People want to see the benefits they’ll gain by engaging with your brand. Smiling faces = positive experiences 😊.

4️⃣𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬... If your business has multiple offerings, simplify! Use an overarching message to unify your services, and then guide users to specific pages that clearly explain each stream. Clarity is key! 🗝️

5️⃣𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭... Less is more. Visitors scan rather than read. Reduce paragraphs to bullet points, cut out unnecessary words, and let images do some of the talking. Aim for brief, punchy, and relevant content. ✂️ 🔄

𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭... Align every word, image, and idea with your brand’s core message. Consistency in messaging ensures that your site lands properly and avoids unnecessary noise.

Implement these tips to create a website that not only passes the grunt test but also drives engagement and conversions. 🚀YIPPEE!

When the best performing edit came from a test thumbnail

One of our top-performing social videos didn’t change at all.

We just changed the thumbnail.

The original showed the brand’s logo.

The new one? A person mid-laugh, half blurry, totally real.

Engagement shot up.

It was a reminder: we don’t scroll past people.

We’re wired to respond to faces, moments, and emotion - not polish.

If your content isn’t hitting, try this:

Keep the video. Change what people see first.

We learned this working with the fab marketing team at medical tech start-up eXciteOSA!

If you're looking to build a habit-forming product, it's essential to run your idea through a rigorous test. Here's how you can ensure your product sticks like glue...

🔍 𝟏. 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬...🔹
🔹 Who are your most devoted users? Define what "regular use" looks like for your product.
🔹 Use cohort analysis to track and understand user behaviour. How often should users interact with your product?

🎯 𝟐. 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬...
Analyse your top users’ behaviour. Look for a Habit Path-a series of actions that your loyal users take regularly.
𝐸𝑥𝑎𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒... Twitter found that new users who followed 30 accounts were more likely to stay active.

🛠️ 𝟑. 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞...
- Adjust your product to encourage more users to follow the identified Habit Path. This might involve tweaking your onboarding process or emphasising features that drive engagement.
- Keep testing and refining-Habit Testing should be an ongoing process.

💡 𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝐹𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝐻𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡-𝐹𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠...
🔹 Own Needs... Solve a problem you wish someone would solve for you.
🔹 Nascent Behaviours... Identify small, emerging behaviours that could grow into mainstream habits.
🔹 New Interfaces... Look for opportunities where interface changes make actions easier or more rewarding.

🚀 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩... 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞. Continuous improvement is key to building products that users can’t live without.

You can have all the best gear in the world -

But if the crew vibes are off, for real the video will be too.

We’ve been lucky. Over the years, we’ve built up a weird and wonderful collective of camera whisperers, lighting ninjas, calm-in-a-crisis types, and snack procurement specialists.

This montage is full of those people.

They’re not just technically sharp - they’re fun, fast-moving, and collaborative.

They’re the kind of people who know how to turn “we’ve lost the sun” into “let’s grab that shot over there instead.”

That’s what makes a shoot sing.

Not just capability... CHEMISTRY baby!

🎬⚡ 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞??

💥 Writing the script for a social campaign for a pet food brand - keeping it light yet (hopefully?) informative, making sure the message is crystal clear. If you’ve ever felt like your marketing efforts are getting lost in the noise - YOU'RE NOT ALONE. Many companies spend big cash money on beautiful designs but miss the mark because their message isn't clear.
Here’s the truth... 🗣️ Words sell, not just pretty websites (making it pretty doesn’t hurt tho)...

🔑𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆...
Your message has gotta be CRYSTAL CLEAR, otherwise your customers just won’t listen. It’s not ‘bout how much you spend... it’s about how well you ✨ communicate ✨. Your customers are constantly bombarded with information (from EVERYWHERE), and if they don’t understand how, you can help them survive and thrive, they’ll move on - fast. 😬

🧠𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬...
People care about what helps them solve problems, achieve goals, and feel secure. If your message doesn’t speak to these needs, it gets ignored. Simple, direct communication is the key fr.

🚀𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬...
You gotta clarify your message BEFORE you market. When you simplify and focus on what truly matters to your audience, your marketing materials-websites, emails, ads - start to acc pay off and work as intended.

✍️𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧...
- 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑚𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑔𝑒... Make it easy to understand in seconds (think of those dwindling attention spans). 🧠
- 𝐹𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑟 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑠... Highlight how you help them survive and thriveee. 💅
- 𝐵𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡... Ensure your entire team can articulate the message. 💬

If you confuse, you lose. Simplify your message and watch your marketing efforts pay off! 🌟

🎯 𝐒𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐩 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠! 🎯

Understanding how people make decisions, especially under uncertainty, can transform your marketing strategy. Let’s dive into the Fourfold Pattern, a key concept in behavioural economics that reveals why people often act against their own best interests - and how you can use this insight to your advantage.

🔍 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭
People tend to overvalue small probabilities. Whether it’s buying a lottery ticket or opting for insurance, they are willing to pay more than the expected value for a slim chance of a big win or to eliminate a small risk.
𝑇𝑖𝑝... Highlight even the smallest chances of positive outcomes in your campaigns to tap into this effect.

🔒 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭
When something is almost certain, people value that certainty highly - even irrationally so.
𝑇𝑖𝑝... Offer guarantees or assurances in your product or service to appeal to this deep-seated desire for certainty.

🎲 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬
When faced with a sure loss, people become risk-takers, willing to gamble to avoid the loss.
𝑇𝑖𝑝... In scenarios where customers face potential losses (e.g., discounts expiring), position your offer as a way to mitigate that loss, encouraging them to take action.

💡 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬
When people are dealing with gains, they prefer to lock in the sure thing rather than gamble for a bigger win.
𝑇𝑖𝑝... When presenting rewards or savings, emphasise the immediate, guaranteed benefit to make your offer more appealing.

𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲... The Fourfold Pattern shows us that human decision-making is far from rational. By understanding this, you can craft marketing messages which resonate more deeply with your audience’s instincts, leading to more effective campaigns and bigger BETTER results. 🚀

🎥 After spending some time today experimenting with some creative shot choices on a new project, a bit of reflection was in order r- years ago, filmmaking equipment was clunky, expensive, and far from accessible.

⏩ Fast forward to now- everything has changed. WE all have 4K video cameras on our smartphones with editing software that comes pre-installed... 😉 We can all experiment with creative shot choices if we so choose! If you can believe it, there are still loads of businesses who haven't tapped into this massive opportunity...like HELLO social media!

We’ll cut them some slack, though-having access to tools doesn’t automatically mean you know how to use them effectively, so here’s the basic how-to...

💡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐫𝐞
Don't wait for the perfect moment or the fanciest equipment. Use what you have-whether it's a smartphone, a DSLR, or something like a GoPro. The key is to start telling stories ASAP. Every video you create is a step forward... you’ll see!

📹 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚
DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are popular for a reason- they’re quality pieces! But if you're just starting out, as we’ve said, your smartphone can do the job and still successfully capture powerful stories. Yep, it's not about the camera, but how you use it.

🎙️ 𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐬
Good video content is more than just visuals-audio quality can make or break your content. Invest in a simple mic (even one of those tiny ones the fashion influencers have -if it works, it works.). You’ve always gotta try record in a quiet location to avoid distractions!

🔆 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬
Even with a smartphone, good lighting can elevate your video. Use natural light where possible, and if you're ready to step up, invest in portable LED lights (think about influencers and their love of ring lights-it's for a reason!). Your viewers will thank you!

🚀 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰
Once your skills improve, you can start improving your toolkit too. Invest in better cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to enhance the quality of your content as you go...

Video storytelling is the most powerful way to connect with your audience. Start now, keep improving, and watch that BEAST grow! 💥

🧠 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠!

The concept of nominative determinism suggests that people are drawn to careers that suit their names. Think of Mark de Man, the footballer, or Sara Blizzard, the weather reporter. But yeah, recent research has shown this theory might not be as robust as it sounds. (All of this is from The Choice Factory, 10/10 would recommend reading this book)

🔍 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐭𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
In 2011, a study debunked the idea of nominative determinism, pointing out that it might just be a coincidence based on the popularity of names in certain generations. This is a reminder that even well-supported theories need thorough testing.

🔬 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠...

🔸𝐵𝑒 𝑆𝑘𝑒𝑝𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙, 𝑁𝑜𝑡 𝐶𝑦𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙... Don’t dismiss psychology or marketing research outright, but approach it with caution. Replication issues in studies suggest that findings aren’t always conclusive. Before acting on a single study, test it on a small scale to see if it holds true for your brand.

🔸𝐹𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑛 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑓𝑖𝑡, 𝑁𝑜𝑡 𝐶𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑦... In marketing, aiming for 95% certainty might be overkill. Instead, consider the potential upside and minimal downside of experimenting with new ideas. If a small test shows promise, scale it up. And yep, even failed experiments can offer valuable insights.

So absolutely, marketers should embrace experimentation while recognising that not all findings will replicate perfectly. Proceed with caution, but don’t let fear of uncertainty stop you from exploring new strategies.
