Saul Isaac Photography is one of the fastest growing school photographers in the East Midlands. We specialise in a range of photography from infants, nurseries, junior schools and family portraiture. We are now seeking to employ somebody to join our existing team to assist with the photographing and potential editing of schools and nursery images, on a freelance working basis.
Job Type:
The job is on a contract basis. Recruits will agree to however many days’ work they desire, depending on the season and the bookings. School and nursery photography work is seasonal where we are extremely busy some periods and quiet in others. We are looking for an experienced photographer with photo editing capabilities. This application is to be considered to work in both areas - mainly a photographer with the potential to work as a digital editor also.
The Photographer Role:
- Working alongside the School and Nursery Photography Team and also independently photographing schools and nurseries
- Setting up and down of professional equipment
- Travelling to and from photo shoots
- All equipment will be provided
- Previous photography experience essential
The Editor Role:
- Editing the images that are taken on a range of coloured backgrounds
- Cropping and colour correcting images
- Providing your own computer equipment with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom License
- Pen and tablet provided if necessary
Working Pattern:
Both roles consist of working as and when required. As a Photographer you can expect an average of 8 hours per day typically starting from around 7:30am. As an Editor, the position is predominantly home based (only if fully capable) and the work pattern can be tailored to suit each individual. We can accommodate a 10 hour week up to 40 hours a week but the number of hours required will need to be agreed so that we can complete our scheduling of the work. Please note there is no guarantee of editing work as the main role will be photographer.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be located (living) within 15 miles of the Nottingham area. They will be bubbly and outgoing; essentially to fit in with the current team and also to help children to relax in front of the camera. Excellent knowledge and a passion for photography is essential, as well as being able to work comfortably and confidently with children. The successful candidate will also need to be committed, with an eye for detail and a desire to create well edited images that parents would be proud to purchase. - Have a basic working knowledge of using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
Please respond with a CV and covering letter and have a portfolio ready to show us your work. Please also state if you have a driving license and vehicle.
Training:
Some training will be provided for the photography role. How much training depends on bookings and the number of successful candidates. Photographers will train with others before going out to shoots alone. The editing role will include up to 15 hours of training at our studio in Ruddington. After this the candidate will then be editing from home. Also, video-based training material can be provided for continual reference. Candidates are encouraged to keep in communication with team leaders whenever necessary.
Salary (Photographing Role):
Starting from £80 a day with little experience using our equipment, £120 with 2 years experience using our equipment, £130 with 2 years experience using your own equipment (that we check and approve), £130 with 4 years+ experience using our equipment and £140 4+ years experience using your own equipment.
Day rate depending on experience plus all justifiable business-related expenses will be reimbursed. i.e. travel from studio to location of photo shoots.
The ideal candidate would be a photographer with their own business e.g. wedding/portrait photography, with the desire to supplement their income by photographing and editing for Saul Isaac on a freelance basis, as and when they are available.
