It does not seem like 5 months ago that we were celebrating the safe return of Maya and 33 for their 11th summer as the public icons of the reintroduction of ospreys to Rutland.. Looking back, I took pictures of them renovating the nest on 29 March soon after arriving ..... yesterday I watched two ospreys rising together in a spiral flight high in the sky above the bay, and later read that Maya had set off on her migration. Fare thee well and hasten back!

"Do European Otters carry their babies in the water?". It seems the wrong answer can be found on-line "no, only sea otters carry their young on their belly or back". The correct answer can be found Leics & Rutland Wildlife Trust Egleton Reserve.....yes they absolutely do!!! Teeny tiny fluff balls on what must have been their first long outing. Each time they fell behind and started struggling, mum turned back and swam up under them to let the ride on her back. All done with lots of squeaking and whistling

Look away now if you are squeamish 🤭🙄 - red kite gathering snacks from a field being cut to make silage yesterday as i drove through Galloway. This one grabbed a vole, which it proceeded to decapitate as it flew above me, and the leg of something larger, maybe a baby rabbit.

How my day is went....6 hour commute plus 8 hour work, midges out in force and almost as many tourists, but ......wait.....

How my day is went....6 hour commute plus 8 hour work, midges out in force and almost as many tourists, but ......wait.....what??? you mean not every one gets mountains, diving gannets and porpoises at sunset outside their bedroom window? 🤭🤭🤭 💕🐬
