What a place. No phone for a week and no sight of a shower (the cleaning kind). Truly breathtaking scenery which to be honest is difficult to do justice with a photograph. The people too are so welcoming. A few just from the iPhone until the Fuji is home.

So as another photography trip starts, this was probably the first one me and Kieran did together. Just as he got interested in cameras, we stopped off at the Ribblehead viaduct on the way to Northumberland.

That was 2015. Who’d have thought we’d still be heading off for an adventure all these years later. We’ve had Skye, Iceland, Dolomites, Faroe Islands and Bosnia. All started more seriously when we both said ‘I want to visit Iceland’.. And so it continues…

The sun dropped away at 21:30 tonight.
The fires did seem to be more under control tonight but that's only a non firefighters view from a long way away. Very windy out there though which won't help.

Popped in with my better half for a ‘quiet’ afternoon, a bite to eat and some jazz. Didn’t take a camera as I knew that would mean trouble so just a few iPhone photos.

Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

Incredible! I love the churches and cathedrals in Italy. In one way they are like take away shops in the UK - 3 or 4 on every street, open all day and always busy.

The facades are often underwhelming but once inside the transformations are astounding. The hustle and bustle and heat outside is left behind to walk into complete silence and the temperature which drops by what must be 10 degrees.

The stonework and paintings on the ceilings were incredible. The crypt had a stone carved ceiling and beautiful marble floor.
