📍THIRA, SANTORINI📍

💙 🇬🇷 💙
Sanctity emanates from each temple and they all boast a long history and unique holy icons. Some are tiny chapels dug into the rock. Many are simple, whitewashed churches adorned with blue domes. ⛪️

🏖 LIFES A BEACH 🏖
Due to its volcanic nature, there are many multicoloured beaches in Santorini. There is the famous Red Beach, and also Black and White Beaches. Eros Beach (known as Lovers Beach or Sweethearts Beach), is associated with the isolation of this corner of the island, where the only interference is the question ‘would you like another cocktail?’ 🍹

📍NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY, NYC📍

📚 READING BETWEEN THE LIONS 📚
☝🏻 Books were originally delivered by horse-drawn carts via the covered driveway from 40th St.
✌🏻 The marble floors of the Library were deemed so hard that in 1911 all employees were suppler with rubber-soles shoes, a fact the manufacturer of the shoes quickly used in advertising.
🤟🏻 At the time it opened in 1911, the Library was the largest marble building ever built in the United States.
✌🏻✌🏻 Mayor Fiorello La Guardia nicknamed the Library Lions ‘Patience’ and ‘Fortitude’ in the 1930s because he felt New Yorkers needed to posses these qualities in order to survive the Depression. 🦁🦁

🧂 BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS, UTAH 🧂
The Bonneville Salt Flats is a densely packed salt pan in Tooele County in northwestern Utah. The area is a remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Bonneville and is the largest of many salt flats located west of the Great Salt Lake. The property is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and is known for land speed records at the "Bonneville Speedway". Access is free and visitors can drive on the flats. 🇺🇸

The Vasari Corridor is what connects the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace. It was built in 1565 by Vasari, hence the name, for the wedding of the Medici heir. The corridor is a kilometre long and is home to a museum of its own separate to the gallery. Not many know about the Vasari Corridor prior to arriving, and it is only available to visit as a private tour. 🤔

📍WILLIAMSBURG BRIDGE, NYC📍

🌁 GREAT ART ISN’T APPRECIATED IN ITS TIME 🌁
When it first opened in 1903, most people thought the bridge was...ugly. The exposed skeleton of the bridge, the lack of excessive ornamentation, the celebration of raw materials; this was all very modernistic stuff, connecting the bridge to some of the newest trends in art and architecture. You may notice some similarities between this bridge and the famous Eiffel Tower which shocked the world with its exposed iron frame. Now, more than just a symbol of New York, this bridge has remained a symbol of industrial strength, and the promise of good ol’ American ingenuity. 🌉

📍EMPIRE STATE BUILDING, NYC📍

🏙 HOLY CHUTE! 🏙
In April 1986, British thrill seekers Alastair Boyd and Michael McCarthy concealed parachutes under their coats, bought tickets to the Empire State Building and then hurled themselves off its 86th floor observation deck. The pair landed safely more than 1,000 feet below on 33rd St., but while McCarthy was quickly arrested, Boyd simply hailed a cab and escaped! He soon turned himself in, however, and both men were charged with “reckless endangerment” and “unlawful parachuting”. ⛱
