This is Preston seafront in Torbay, the adjacent beach to Paignton. Sea defences are also currently being installed here with work scheduled to conclude in Spring 2027. This seafront is normally packed for the English Riviera Airshow and the promenade and green normally have the iconic beach huts in place throughout the season. They have all been in storage now since the end of last summer and will remain so until these works are completed.

Early morning Sunday 17th May and another look at the work progressing well on the Paignton flood defence scheme. The Air Show starts on the 29th May. A Google search shows that the airshow weekend has previously attracted in excess of 165,000 people to Torbay.

Something slightly different this time. This mixes last weeks look with fresh footage captured just after sunrise yesterday, Some subtle changes are visible after a week, but with this phase of works due to be completed ahead of the Airshow, there should be some dramatic changes to see in the next few weeks or so.

An up to date look at the current state of play with the Paignton Sea Defences just after 0630 this morning. 13/04/26. Huge progress since the last overflight and certainly looking to be on target to complete this phase before the end of May and the English Riviera Airshow. (Need to stress that we are in no way connected to or involved with these works, so do not have the answers to a lot of the questions in the comments unfortunately. Torbay Council do have a page dedicated to these works, will add a link further down the comments)
