This week's Paisley Docs' Featured Filmmakers are Ben Rivers and Wilma Smith! 🎬

Ben Rivers is a Filmmaker and Artist, whose films are typically intimate portrayals of solitary beings or isolated communities. His practice as a filmmaker treads a line between documentary and fiction. Rivers uses these themes as a starting point from which to imagine alternative narratives and existences in marginal worlds.

Wilma Smith is a writer/director and dedicated working mother from Coatbridge. Her own story and passion for telling stories through film of all genres started at the age of 13 when she borrowed a VHS camera and Dictaphone to make her first stop motion animation. Wilma has been selected for this year’s Netflix funded Women in Film & Television Four Nations Mentoring Scheme. Following her fantastic Artist Meet Up last year we're delighted to be welcoming her back to Refractive.

Join us to share in the work of these talented directors with a screening of Missed Calls (Wilma Smith, 2023) and Bogancloch (Ben Rivers, 2025) on Saturday at the Wynd Centre!

Tickets available via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/refractive-scotland-cic-82634640533 or on the door!! 🎟️
