Padification ~ a little magic at work
A NEW Pembrokeshire service offers cost-effective, bespoke layouts for websites, business cards, newspaper adverts, display boards… and more.
Having acquired a degree in English and after 17 happy years working at the Tenby Observer in West Wales, Patrick “Paddy” Ovenden suddenly found himself ‘between jobs’ in the summer of 2018. He was the writer and producer of the annual Summer Guide and best known for his role in maintaining the nostalgic monthly supplement Tenby Times. In October he returned to the Observer as a reporter on a part-time, freelance basis.
While working in the ’paper’s production department he had learned a great deal about how to create satisfying layouts, write editorial and enhance photographs. It wasn’t full-on graphic design in the sense of making logos and branding from scratch, but all the same the skills were valuable and he was not ready to waste them.
Paddy’s skills were always in demand for the more challenging design/layout tasks. Clients remarked that he listened well to their requirements, while among colleagues he gained a reputation for an ability to ‘work magic’, which was jokingly termed “Padification”, hence the name Padify.
