My dad, who passed away a little while ago, loved his allotment. He built a makeshift shed out of bits and pieces he found here and there, as place keep other bits and pieces. To call it a potting shed would be far too grand.
So here it is, now overgrown and unloved. And full of the stuff that ‘might come in handy one day’.

I need to focus! Jewellery images from my NEW WEBSITE (link in bio).
Jewellery photography is, in my opinion, one of the most technically challenging jobs in
product photography.
Working on such a macro scale means dealing with an extremely shallow depth of field,
meaning only a fraction of the jewellery is in sharp focus – not ideal when you want to see
detail. So I use a technique called ‘focus stacking’. This involves taking multiple shots, each focused at a different depth, then combining them in post to create a single image where the entire product is sharp, front-to-back. Nice.

Different moods for different foods – from my NEW WEBSITE (link in bio).
Image 1: Korean-inspired beef short ribs. A warm, wintery feel created by a
Cumulite, a beautifully soft light source that’s my absolute favourite.
We ate this afterwards, they were delicious.
Image 2: Peach and plum galette. A summery feel for a summer dish. This late
afternoon sunshine was created in the studio by an Fresnel spot, a lamp that
throws lovely crisp, sun-like shadows.
We ate this afterwards, it was delicious.
Image 3: Cajun chicken legs. The challenge was to create a barbeque shot in the
studio without dying of carbon monoxide poisoning. I used a Flooter
as the key light and a long exposure to capture the glow from the coals.
We ate this afterwards, they were delicious. (Are you detecting a theme?)

Colour drenched sets from my NEW WEBSITE (link in bio).
These images are from a 4 day shoot at a large hire studio. The client was introducing 3 new colours to their product range and wanted sets to match. We painted strips of carefully matched colour inside a huge cove, and created a variety of bespoke plinths and backgrounds finished in the same colour.
A key creative decision was to have minimal propping, to concentrate on light, colour and form to create mood and atmosphere for a structured, architectural feel.
I love this style of image creation: starting with a blank canvas and building the photograph from the ground up. So rewarding!
