It's a pleasure to photograph and film for Meals on Wheels Cumbria - thanks to Pauline for allowing me to shadow her on a wet January day as an article was prepared for the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald. If you are Penrith-based and either know someone who would benefit from meals, or are in a position to volunteer then get in touch with the wonderful people at Meals on Wheels Cumbria.

One of our wonderful Penrith volunteers, Pauline, kindly recently wrote about her experiences of being involved with us:

"Meals on Wheels Cumbria has been running in Penrith for 18 months now, and that’s how long I have been working as a volunteer for them. Once a week I deliver a meal to someone in and around Penrith. It’s a real privilege to be able to help the local community this way. I really enjoy meeting the clients, and as some of them are vulnerable then I’m sure it is also reassuring to their family that we are checking on them during the day. So many of the clients comment on how they enjoy the freshly cooked meals, which arrive at their home hot and ready to eat."

It's World Book Day! I am a big lover of stories and the act of reading in general. It feels like a good day to re-share this older piece of work 'where the lost things go' from 2017, based on one of my favourite books.

Filmed for an exhibition on 'Ekphrasis' in Lancaster, it's a response to the the idea of 'Norfolk' - a place where all the lost things end up - from Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro... an idea I found, and find, intoxicating. Gimbel-less filming aside, it's still a joy to sit a while in the concept of Norfolk. The hauntingly beautiful music is an instrumental version of 'For a View' by wonderful The Bookshop Band. They also allowed me to use a second song for another film for the exhibition based on the wonderful The Garden of Evening Mists by Tan Twen Eng (I must put in a request for them to play the full version next time they play at Vereys in Pooley Bridge!). That film, and one based on the equally wonderful Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, are viewable in the link below. Happy World Book Day everyone!

Day Twenty-Two • V is for Vintage • Another are few from the May Day festivities! I've worked with the Council a number of times over the years and love to celebrate the wonderful place I live. Part of the fun was the Vintage Tractor and Car Exhibition and parade. Stunning!
