If you want to feel a bit dramatic for your maternity session, please know I fully support and even encourage this decision.

You don't have to keep things plain, simple or sensible if that’s not really you. If you want colour, volume, a crown, big dress energy and a bit of “excuse me, I’m growing an actual human and I’d like to look incredible please”, I am absolutely here for it.

Maternity sessions can be soft and natural, but they can also be bold, styled and full of personality. We’ll look at outfits, talk through what you like, and work out what makes you feel most comfortable before we start.

If you’re expecting and fancy maternity photos that feel a bit more you, send me a message and we’ll plan something beautiful.

Warning: within about 3 seconds of arriving at the studio, you’ll probably feel like you’ve known me forever.

Which is actually very useful for maternity sessions, because I know walking into a studio while pregnant can feel a bit nerve-wracking. You might be thinking, what do I do with my hands, how do I stand, what if I feel awkward, what if I don’t know how to pose?

Please do not worry. That is very much my job.

You can arrive feeling unsure, a bit nervous, not remotely model-like, and I’ll still get you settled. We’ll chat, we’ll look at outfits, I’ll fuss over the dress, move fabric about, sort the tiny details and talk you through what to do as we go.

Maternity photos don’t have to feel serious or intimidating. They can feel relaxed, easy, a bit fun, and still give you images where you look at them afterwards and think, “Oh wow, I’m so glad I did that.”

If you’re expecting and you’ve been wondering whether you’d feel too awkward, come and chat to me. I promise I’ll make it feel easier than you think.

I’m the kind of person who likes to find a cheerful solution to everything.

So when parents say, “I’d love to be in some of the photos, but I don’t really want to be fully in the photos,” I’m absolutely not going to argue with that.

We can do this instead.

Your hands, your partner’s hands, older siblings’ hands if they’re joining in too, all around your tiny baby. You’re still part of the image, but you don’t have to worry about how tired you feel, whether your hair is doing something weird, or if you’ve had enough sleep to recognise your own face yet.

It’s such a simple way to show how small they were, and how loved they are, without needing everyone camera ready.

Newborn sessions are really flexible like that. If you want full family photos, brilliant. If you’d rather just have little details like this, also brilliant. We’ll make it work around you, your baby, and whatever level of “please don’t make me look directly into a camera today” you’re currently at.

I never mind if your little one doesn’t sleep for their session.

It’s just one more person for me to chatter to 😂

Of course those sleepy curled up newborn photos are lovely, but wide awake babies are gorgeous too. You get the eye contact, the little expressions, the “hello, I’m here” look, and sometimes a proper good nosey at what’s going on around them.

So if you’re worrying that your baby might stay awake the whole time, please don’t. I promise I’m not going to panic, and you definitely don’t need to panic either. We just go with your baby, keep things relaxed, and create beautiful images from whatever mood they bring with them.

Some babies snooze through it. Some like to keep an eye on me. I’m happy either way.

When the brief is “make it pink”, I’m not about to hold back.

Pink flowers, pink balloons, pink dress, pink everywhere. Say no more. I am fully on board.

This is one of my favourite things about milestone sessions. They can be as simple or as extra as you like. If you want soft and neutral, gorgeous. If you want full on pretty in pink and a setup that looks like a tiny birthday queen has arrived, I am very much here for that too.

Creating these little sets is half the fun for me. Give me a theme and you'd better believe I will run with it.

If your little one has a birthday coming up and you want something fun, personal and a bit fabulous, send me a message and let’s plan it properly.

When you book a session for your little one, you’re very welcome to be in a few of the photos too.

And before you say “oh no, it’s fine, just photos of the baby,” let me stop you there.

You can go all out with outfits if you want to, and I LOVE when families are co-ordinated like this!

Because as much as the session is about your baby, you’re part of it too. You’re the cuddles, the comfort, the familiar face, the person they look for, reach for and settle with.

Yes, dogs can absolutely be part of the photos.

Especially when they’re as well behaved as Narla.

Matilda and her furry best friend were so sweet together, and I love that this image includes such a big part of family life.

Because for lots of people, the dog isn’t “just the dog.” They were there before the baby arrived, they’ve probably inspected every new blanket, sniffed every tiny sock and looked deeply betrayed by the sudden change in household routine 🤣

If you’d love to include your dog in your newborn or family session, just mention it when you enquire and we can talk through what’s possible.

I promise, I’m very used to working around children, babies, pets and all the little bits of chaos that come with real families.

This family were an absolute dream.

Mandy booked after seeing I had a green maternity gown, because she got married in a green dress and wanted that little connection for her photos.

Which I love.

She’d recently moved here from London, was pregnant with baby number six, runs her own business, and still turned up looking this calm and gorgeous. Bloody hero behaviour, frankly.

And the children? Amazing. Proper little superstars.

Big family sessions can sound chaotic, but they don’t have to be scary. I’m very used to noise, movement, little personalities, snack requests, people needing a minute and children being children. I'll be honest, I'm a big kid myself!

You don’t need everyone to be perfectly still and angelic for the whole session. I’ll guide you, chat to the kids, keep things relaxed and we’ll get the photos without making it feel like a school inspection.

If you’re pregnant and would love maternity photos with your family included, just message me and we can chat through ideas.

Now this is what I mean when I say your session can feel like you.

I absolutely love when families bring outfits, colours or details that mean something to them. It makes the photos feel so much more personal than just “baby sat in front of a backdrop looking cute.”

Although, to be fair, Nabeelah was absolutely nailing the cute bit too.

Whether it’s a special outfit, a family tradition, a colour you love or something you’ve had tucked away ready for photos, we can work it into your session.

I’ll help with posing, styling and keeping everything relaxed, so you don’t need to walk in with a full Pinterest board and a military level plan.

Baby sessions, milestone sessions, family photos, maternity and newborns are all available, so just pop me a message if you’d like to chat.

I love including dads in newborn sessions.

And no, you don’t need to know what to do with your face, your hands, your shoulders or your entire body. That’s my job 🤣 and I will warn you, I'm kind of bossy, but in the best possible way!

Most parents come in saying some version of “I’m awkward in photos” and then five minutes later we’re chatting away and you’ve forgotten I’ve even got a camera in my hand.

This image of Jasper with his dad is exactly why I always encourage parent photos. Your baby won’t remember being this tiny, but one day they’ll get to see just how carefully they were held.

Newborn sessions can include baby on their own, parent images and family photos too, so you come away with a proper little record of this time.
