There’s something about taking the colour away. You stop looking at the dress, or the flowers, or the tartan, and you start seeing the hands. The hug that lasts a beat too long. The mum doing up the buttons. The face someone makes when they think nobody is watching them.

Kat and Will travelled up from London to get married at Netherdale House, surrounded by their favourite people. Relaxed, intimate, and carried the whole way through by the sheer love in that room.

That kind of support never shows up as one big moment. It shows up as a hundred small ones, and you can feel it in every single frame.

Thank you both for making me feel so welcome, and for being so completely, unapologetically yourselves all day 🤍

Stephanie and Blake

From the literal moment stephanie’s enquiry dropped in my inbox, I just knew this one was gonna be a special. And IT 👏DID 👏NOT 👏DISAPPOINT 👏

Built entirely around their love of music, every little detail had a reason for being there. Nothing was picked just because it looked pretty. It all meant something, and you could feel that in every corner of the day.

This is exactly what a wedding day should feel like. Full of the people who love you, the things that make you you, and a whole lot of heart.

Grateful to have witnessed it 🤍

More goodness to come…

CHRISTMAS 2026

No Christmas minis this year.

I've sat with this one for a while, and it still feels strange to type it. Christmas minis have been part of my December for years now, the fairy lights up, the same songs on repeat, small people in itchy jumpers who only smile when you say the word "poo".

But this year I'm sitting them out.

Alfie is growing so fast I can barely keep up. He's getting taller, he's getting funnier, and I can feel him inching towards the age where the magic starts to loosen its grip. I don't know how many Christmases I've got left of the wide eyes and the whispering and the "did you hear something on the roof?". Maybe a few. Maybe fewer than that. Nobody hands you a warning.

So this December I want to be in it rather than behind the camera for it. I want the messy gingerbread and the school show and the pyjama mornings where we've nowhere to be. I want to be his mum, not the photographer squeezing him in between sessions.

To everyone who has trusted me with your babies at Christmas over the years, thank you. Truly. I'll be back for them, and I'll be so ready.

This year I'm just going to soak up mine while he still believes.

Heyyyy pretty people 🤍

It’s been a hot minute since i’ve popped my face on the grid, and honestly, it’s not often I actually like a photograph of myself, so when I seen this one, you just know it’s going up. (along with a wee photo dump of photos from work this summer with the bestest people)

This summer has been such a fun rollercoaster; weddings, babies, couples, dogs, you name it, i’ve probably photographed it. I’ve been so so blessed with the best couples and families (past and present) who have reinforced why I literally love my job.

My editing queue even has an editing queue at the moment (fellow photographers, if you know you know!!). So it’s currently late nights, early rising, and counting down the days until our much dreamed of family holidays to Walt Disney World with my Alfie 🐭

I’ve got so much goodness to share from the past few weeks, but as a one woman band, my focus at the moment is getting those galleries out before heading off on holiday.

Then I can fully immerse myself in rollercoasters and mickey pretzels.

Any top disney tips, HIT ME UP 🤍

Back to my editing hole I go… 🤍

One week in and my feed has finally stopped being 90% wee ones in blazers. I'm a bit sad about it honestly. That first few school days is my favourite of the whole year.

But now that the dust has settled, can I say something gently, and please hear it as helpful rather than a telling off.

I'm coming at this wearing three hats. I'm a photographer, so I think about what ends up online every single day. I'm also a mum, so I know exactly how badly you want to show the world how proud you are. And before all of this I was a primary teacher, so I've sat on the other side of it too.

Have a scroll back at your first day photo. Not to take it down, it's gorgeous, leave it up. Just have a wee look at what's actually in it.

A lot of the printable signs going round ask for the lot. Full name. School. Class. Teacher's name. Sometimes a birthday too. On its own each bit seems harmless. All together on a public post, it's everything a stranger would need to sound like someone your child already knows.

The good news is it's a two minute fix and nobody will even notice.

🤍 Change who can see it. You can edit the audience on a post you made weeks ago, friends only, done
🤍 Or delete and repost with the sign cropped out, the photo is just as lovely without it
🤍 Check the school badge on the jumper isn't readable in close ups
🤍 Have a think about the teacher's name in particular. From my classroom days I can tell you most teachers would really rather their name wasn't on a public post attached to a school and a class list. That one was never really ours to give away
🤍 And if there are other children in the shot, worth a quick check their parents were happy

If you had photos taken professionally, you're also completely entitled to ask whoever took them how your child's details are handled and where they end up. Anyone doing it properly will be glad you asked. When the information belongs to a child, data protection stops being paperwork and starts being safeguarding.

I'm not saying stop sharing. Please don't stop sharing. They're only this size once and I will happily look at every single one of them.

Just maybe let the sign say "Ellie, P1" and nothing more.

Christy and Colin

I’ve struggled to put into words how much this day filled my cup right up mid wedding season.
Christy and Colin were literally a breathe of fresh air - childhood sweethearts who had grown up together; faced every single obstacle hand in hand, and came full circle by saying ‘I do” at the top of the aisle.

I finished the day with a full heart, and then the tears came - not from Christy and Colin, but from ME!!

After sending their previews across for the next morning, I received the most incredible email

“Samantha!!! Thank you So much for these photos, they are perfect!! We cannot thank you enough for everything you did for us, you are just the best. Not only are you the best photographer, you are just such a joy to be around and you really contributed to our amazing day, we are so happy we had you there! All of our guests loved you and said how great you were too! We can’t wait to see the rest of the photos. Thank you!”

So yeah, there was tears, and i’m genuinely not embarrassed to admit it.

I had a bride message me about a year after her wedding, and I honestly thought something was wrong.

It wasn’t. She’d just found a photo she’d forgotten about. Her dad, at the back of the room, not looking at her - looking at her mum. And she said she’d looked at that one photo about forty times that week.

She didn’t mention her flowers. Or the table plan she cried over in March.

I think about that a lot, actually. Especially in the middle of season when everything’s a bit relentless and I’m second-guessing myself at 11pm most nights.

Plan the pretty bits. Truly. Enjoy every bit of it, I love a good Pinterest board same as anyone.

Just know that’s not the bit you’ll be looking at in a year.

‼️‼️IMPORTANT INFO ON TODAYS SCHOOL SESSIONS ‼️‼️

As it stands, it will still be going ahead. the rain is due to ease off around 11, so hopeful we will get a lovely afternoon for these cracking outdoor photos. i’ve contacted those affected this morning if you have to change.

For tomorrows sessions;

It may be a case of pulling afternoon sessions into the morning. The rain is due in afternoon but i’m keeping a very close eye on the weather for this. I’ll update all those affected later today once I have a clear look at what tomorrow is looking like.

Any questions, please email me
