Does personal branding photography mean anything to you?

I've been working with some amazing women recently. On the whole, they are relaunching themselves into their own new businesses. The aim is to make a bank of images of you and what's important to you and your business that can be used across your marketing platforms. It's so brilliant how unbelievably interesting, creative and shape shifting people are.

I'm relaunching my photography business to focus on this kind of photography. In the industry, it seems to be known as personal branding. Just wondered if that means anything to most people.

I know how hard it is to have your photo taken. We're often somehow hard-wired to find a lens totally nerve wracking but it's becoming increasingly important that there is a personal side to your business. Even if your trade is totally online, customers still want to see what you look like. Remember - however hideous it seems, it's the job of the photographer to help you relax so you look and feel as comfortable as possible. Thanks to Annabel, founder of Miller & Drake, for taking it in her stride!

At the end of every engagement shoot, when the couple have got a bit more comfortable with having their photos taken, I always do a 'granny shot'. The one where their looking into the lens (usually banned!) that will go in a frame in Granny's house. These guys weren't keen on having their photo taken to start with (who is?) but they totally smashed their granny shot.
