How often do UK wedding photographers get to spend an hour with their couples to have fun in a totally chilled way, mostly spent laughing?
Put simply we don't. Timing is always tight and I'm lucky if I get 20 minutes with most of my couples. So when the weather stopped play, I hatched a plan with Max & Sam to meet up a couple of days after their fomal ceremony and they were so up for. I cannot thank them enough for giving me their time at the end of their mini moon and for being completely happy to go along with some of my more crazy ideas.
We didn't have to rush, we could go where we pleased and everyone we met congratulated them.
I'm a big fan of black & white images, they will always make up a small selection on every gallery I deliver. These are possibly my favourites. In the first, they simply stopped for a moment on the stairs, lit by a single off camera flash. Not posed, not formal, just them being them, a moment in time. The second was one we'd wanted to do from the start, tucked away in market cross reflecting on the love, laughter and emotion of the last few days. Again a single flash in a soft box to light them. As for the third - when I found this little alcove I knew it was perfect spot. I'd thought it would be a good posing location, but we didn't need to. The laughter was as natural as it looked.
Moments like these are what make album worthy images - relaxed, heartfelt, fun.
