And breathe

The last few weeks have been full on with three double header weekends. So the best way to spend a weekend off? Run a hilly 10km trail run in the heat of the day, of course! Super pleased to have crossed the finish line in under an hour.

I don't appear on my own grid very often, neither do I say much about my running, so I thought I'd combine the two.

I'm hugely looking forward to next week's wedding which will almost certainly involve a bit of running here and there.

A little tip to end the day this Tuesday

One thing that will transform how your wedding photos feel…

Build a little breathing space into your timeline.

It doesn’t need to be loads, even 10–15 minutes here and there makes such a difference. Without it, the day can feel like a constant rush from one thing to the next.

Those pockets of time? That’s where the magic happens.
The deep breaths. The “we just got married” smiles. The spontaneous hugs. The moments you didn’t plan for but will treasure the most.

And selfishly… it also gives me the chance to capture everything in a relaxed, natural way, no forced smiles, no rushing you away from your guests.

Your wedding isn’t a checklist. It’s a day to feel, soak up, and actually enjoy.

So when you’re planning your timeline, give yourselves the gift of a little space.

The moments no one realises I’m capturing…

The hand squeeze just before the ceremony kicks off.

The deep breath no one else notices.

Your mum’s face when she thinks no one’s looking.

These are the bits that don’t make the timeline. They’re not posed, planned, or repeated.

But they’re the ones you’ll feel the most when you look back.

Black & white has a way of quieting everything else… so the emotion gets to speak a little louder

If you had to choose…
would you frame the big moments, or the quiet ones?

From formal to fun - these two certainly know how to party.

Saturday was a real family gathering. Young and a little older gathered to celebrate with Lauren & Scott. From Nerf gun wars to bouncy castle dancing, everyone joined in and I certainly was on the receiving end of a few bits of flying Nerfs, totally inadvertently, I just couldn't jump quickly enough to avoid them!

I was made to feel so welcome to a very special day and even persuaded the groom to enjoy having his photo taken.

The next few weeks are back to back crazy, but this weekend will hold a special place in my memories.

Congrats to you both

What a brilliant couple of days spent with and Scott as they celebrated their wedding with family and close friends on Thursday at the beautiful

Walked up the aisle by their eldest Dan and their rings kept safe by Oliver, this was a day full of laughter and plenty of emotion.

After the service, we popped across to the Bishop's Palace gardens for a few portraits, just the two of them and then all four. Talk about fun, we had such a laugh ... and that continued into Saturday's reception which was a serious party.

One of the best weekends of the year.

A real privilege to have been asked to such a brilliant weekend of entertainment, so of course I had a camera in my party dress to capture a little of the magic.

As ever the Court was a wonderful venue, super scrummy eats and brilliant music.

Looking forward to being back in a few weeks aa the wedding season ramps up.

What a difference a day makes.

Having got super wet at Saturday's wedding, waking up to sunshine for an early engagement shoot with Helena & Ewan was a great start to Sunday.

I've been to Herriard Park quite a bit over the years, but still had no idea about the hidden beauty just out of sight. We had a wonderful wonder in a truly relaxed and unscripted way, very much a practice run ahead of their big day this time next year.

The simplicity of black & white edits gives a timeless feel, topped off when a few young horses got inquisitive enough to come over and say hello, totally unfazed by strangers or cameras. I had a lovely hour capturing some special moments.

An engagement photoshoot is the perfect way to get comfortable with a camera trained entirely on you. So many people - me included - feel very uncomfortable being photographed, so having time with no pressure is invaluable and will really build your confidence when your wedding day comes around.

Not every moment that really matter happens centre stage. I’m often described as the invisible photographer, capture often unseen moments not seen by anyone, but remembered for the joy they bring.

A cake cut with a difference, a proud parent quietly holding back tears during the speeches. Sibling moments that bring happy tears. Watching your son reading precious words. Grandparents joining your friends on the dance floor. The look on your face when you realise this is actually happening.

Most of these moments last seconds.

Many happen when nobody else notices them at all.

But those are often the photographs that end up meaning the most years later.

Of course I capture the big moments - the confetti, the kiss, the first dance - but I’m always watching for the in-between bits too. The real stuff. The emotion. The joy. The nerves. The absolute belly laughs.

Because weddings aren’t just about how they looked. They’re about how they felt.

That’s why documentary photography matters so much to me. Capturing your day naturally as it unfolds, without forcing moments that don’t need forcing.

The tiny moments often tell the biggest story

First Wednesday of the month is coffee & cake day. A great morning of networking, talking mostly about weddings and events with a little sprinkling of my London Marathon madness around the edges.

Thank you Steve for your kind words on my achievement. It will stick in my mind as a top moment.

I had a camera with me today so took a few relaxed photos which I always enjoy as it shows just how much fun everyone has at these events.
