The cuckoo is a sub Saharan summer visitor which is only here from April to July. The cuckoo is known for laying its eggs in other species nests. It will call you cuckoo from the trees!

Puffin overload!

On Sunday I headed over to the Isle of May to see the puffins I always thought puffins were a decent size but they are so small about the size of a pigeon. Was a great day even though the weather didn’t play ball and the crossing was very rough.

Yesterday morning as I was leaving for work I noticed something sitting on the neighbours fence and had to take a second look. So I quickly ran back in the house to get my camera just wish it was a more natural setting for my first decent picture of a sparrow hawk.

Managed to get out this weekend but stayed within North Ayrshire on the hunt for cuckoo’s and managed to find them although very distant shots. One bird that surprised me on Sunday was seeing an osprey in north Ayrshire. As far as I’m aware there are no nesting ospreys in North Ayrshire. Not the best photos due to the light and heat haze. Both birds are summer migrants from Africa.

A bit late today with a post but last weekend I headed up to RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve and managed to get this picture of a song thrush. Birds look so angry when you get a picture of them head on.
