Recently had the opportunity to shoot some promo content for Gavin Steel and his Felbeat project.

Gavin is a drum & bass DJ with influences that stretch into alternative music, and the look we were aiming for was quite different from the photography I normally find myself doing.

It also gave me a good excuse to invest in a pair of NEEWER RGB1200s and experiment with two-tone RGB portrait lighting.

We shot at THÊ DEPØ, which turned out to be the perfect environment for the look we were after.

I'm really happy with how the images turned out, and I've written up the story of the shoot, how I used the RGB1200s, and what I thought of them after putting them through a real shoot.

A swimming pool. Six DJs. House music. And a massive gazebo getting in the way of my shots.

I headed down to Tinside Lido in Plymouth to photograph Casa on 1st August, and this was definitely one of the more unusual events I've had the chance to shoot.

With the sun setting over the Hoe, a fantastic backdrop and people getting stuck into the music, there was plenty to work with even if the gazebo made me rethink pretty much every shot I'd originally planned.

I've written up the full story, including the challenges of shooting an event like this, and included some of my favourite photos from the night.

Have been very busy recently, but finally found the time to write about the Pretty Fly - Alternative Club Night Emo Karaoke.
