The T80, Canon’s first Autofocus SLR. Released in 1985, just in case in the styling didn’t give it away. My daily drivers are a pair of T70s, so I was very interested to try out the T80.

The good:
Despite being bulky, it sits very well in the hand and is surprisingly lightweight. The optics are pleasant, it’s easy to use, and whilst the auto focus couldn’t be described as fast, it is fairly accurate.

The less good:
My go to shooting mode is aperture priority, or when using a manual camera, treating it as aperture priority when metering. You can approximate that between the shooting modes, but you can’t specify a specific value for the aperture. In the real world, that’s probably not an actual issue, but I’m a little too much of a control freak for that.
