More updates to follow.
Due to rising fuel costs, lack of time and the prioritisation of my commercial photography in recent months, I have decided to focus my personal photographic efforts for 2011 on my home city of Plymouth, culminating in an exhibition late 2011 or summer 2012 – I have a couple of potential venues lined up already. I began this work informally just over a year ago but it has been a very slow start.
For as long as I have been photographing landscapes, I have always prioritised Dartmoor and the coast of the South Hams over the views near my home, but I know there are some great scenes to be captured within ten minutes of my doorstep, and the thought that I can walk(or even take the bus!!) to many of these, makes this project realistically achievable.
I could easily include many of my older photos of Plymouth, but I'm going to start by limiting the selection to those that were made with this project in mind – just a handful from the last 12 months. The results will probably be completely self indulgent and not very commercial, but hopefully some will appeal to the viewer as much as they do to me.
Writing this paragraph now in 2013, it's obvious that this is a long term project and 5 days away from the first exhibition, I've edited the images down to just 12. So, these first photos are just the beginning of this series...
