When asked what type of photography I do, for example landscapes, wildlife etc, I've always had to list what I do, as I don't have one genre; I have a style.
My Artistic Statement is thus:
I photograph narrative - both in real world found moments and created in miniature; a story inside a second, the documentary of an instant.

Merry Christmas to one and all. Wherever you are whatever you're doing, whatever faith you hold or none at all, I wish you the very best of festive tidings.
With thanks to Wrendale for the image.

Many people are out enjoying their autumn walks now, hopefully avoiding the rain, but finding many wonderful fungi.
Please don't try tasting any you can't absolutely identify by their habitat, size, colours, shape, whether they have gills or not, how those gills attach to the stipe (stem) or not, if they have a ring on the stipe and much more.
Learning to safely identify fungi takes commitment and hours of research, so in the meantime maybe try learning just a few simple ones, such as the amethyst deceiver, puffball and shaggy inkcap. They're definitely the easiest to identify and hardest to get wrong.
In the meantime, stick to wearing fungi lookalikes instead of eating them!

It's wild garlic time again! Be very careful to identify the correct leaf and remember that poisonous plants grow in the same place at the same time, so not every leaf in the same patch will be safe.

With spring just around the corner, you may have noticed some green shoots already appearing. It's also a great time for some fantastic sunrises and sunsets, so keep your camera handy and your eyes open. The best colours are often after the sun has dipped below the horizon.

With all the snow about at the moment, I thought it would be fun to show some old favourites. It's great playing with the light and shadows, but sometimes it can be more dramatic without.

Merry Christmas to you! Despite having multiple disabilities, I eventually managed to make a full Christmas dinner for myself (and shared the venison with my cat). It would appear, after sharing the meat with him, that the real forager in my family is the cat!

I love it when people ask if I can provide a gift certificate, as they want to give one of my events - me! - as a gift for a loved one, and to join them on the day.
Yesterday's gift certificate was planned with an end of 2025 date on it, and to be paid for on the event date, at a mutually agreed time and location. This makes it so much easier to have peace of mind for the giver that it will fit in with whatever the recipient would like to do.
I keep a record of the certificates I produce, so I know how many have already been paid for for 2025 and whether they're for any of my events, or on a specific subject.

If you've had recent snow or heavy frosts, there are still several fungi to be found. Velvet shank, for example, can survive frosts, as can Jelly ear fungus. In fact, this fungus seems almost indestructible! Even when dried out in summer, it can be soaked and reconstituted to add to soups and stews.
