Built in 1966 and flagged to Sierra Leon the Edro III lost her engine and ran aground off the coast of Pegeia, Cyprus on 8th October 2011. She was carrying a cargo of plasterboard between Limassol and Rhodes and had a crew of nine onboard at the time and were airlifted to safety to Paphos by a British military helicopter. Deemed too dangerous to salvage due to the shallow waters and rugged coast, Edro III now rests with a 12° list to port and is a tourist attraction.

The location was deserted the night I visited, though I think a certain football match may have helped! However with humidity at close to 80% and temperatures still at 30°c, coming from an air conditioned car caused me some issues with my lenses and filters fogging up. There was also a very fine haze reflecting light from the nearby bar. Though I’m pleased with the final results despite these challenges.
