Another day, another Cake Smash… apparently this is just who I am now. 😂🎂

This gorgeous little man recently came into the studio to celebrate turning ONE, and just look at him! ❤️

Cake Smash sessions are always completely unpredictable, which is probably one of the reasons I love them so much.

You can plan the colours, organise the cake, get everything looking perfect and have a lovely little vision in your head of how it's all going to go…

And then you introduce a one-year-old. 😂

From that point onwards, they're in charge.

We play, explore, make an enormous mess and capture all those brilliant little expressions and bits of personality along the way.

Because the perfect Cake Smash isn't about getting a one-year-old to perform for the camera.

It's about letting them be ONE. ❤️

I think 2026 might officially be the year of the Cake Smash at Hello YOU Studios! 🎂😂

I genuinely think I’ve photographed more Cake Smashes this year than I ever have before… and I’ve absolutely loved every single one of them.

Every little one is completely different.

Some dive straight in.
Some delicately poke the icing with one finger.
Some need a little encouragement.
And some look at the cake like I’ve personally offended them by putting it there. 😂

But that’s exactly what makes them so much fun.

There’s cake, chaos, hilarious little expressions, plenty of personality and usually a studio floor that looks considerably less impressive by the end of it. 🤣

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So here’s another gorgeous little ONE joining my ever-growing 2026 Cake Smash crew! 🎂❤️

Yep… we are officially ONE MONTH away from the release of this year’s Hello YOU Studios Christmas sessions! 😍

Christmas at Hello YOU is always one of my favourite times of the year the studio gets transformed, the twinkly lights come out and we get to create those gorgeous Christmas portraits that end up on walls, in frames and being gifted to grandparents ❤️

There’s something really special about getting to watch your little clients grow. ❤️

I first met this gorgeous little girl last Christmas, when she was still just a tiny baby, and over the months since I’ve had the absolute pleasure of welcoming her back to the studio and watching her change with every visit.

And now somehow… she’s ONE! 🥹🎂

Of course, turning one deserved a celebration, and what better way than with a Cake Smash!

One of my favourite parts of what I do isn’t just creating beautiful photographs, it’s getting to know the little people in front of my camera and watching their personalities appear as they grow.

From that little baby I met at Christmas to the gorgeous one-year-old you see here. ❤️

Happy first birthday, beautiful girl. It has been an absolute pleasure capturing your first year. 🎂✨

✨ When they completely take over their own photoshoot… ✨

I had the absolute BEST session with this gorgeous girl recently.

She walked into the studio with bundles of confidence and very quickly decided that she knew exactly what we were doing. 😂

She positioned herself, came up with her own ideas, changed poses and basically took charge of her entire photoshoot and I was completely here for it!

Sessions like this are such a reminder that portraits don't always have to be about me telling someone where to stand, where to put their hands or how to pose.

Sometimes it's about giving them the space to show you exactly who they are.

And this girl absolutely did that. ❤️

Confident. Full of personality. Completely herself.

We laughed, we created, we tried her ideas and mine, and came away with such a gorgeous collection of portraits.

She was an absolute superstar to photograph and I couldn't wait to finally share some of these. 📸✨

🎄 Okay… Christmas is officially starting at Hello YOU Studios!

I've FINALLY finished the images from our Christmas model session and I am so excited to start sharing them. 🤍

This year's set is exactly what I wanted soft, warm, timeless and all about the children rather than loads of Christmas clutter.
And now that the images are ready, it means we're getting very close to releasing the Christmas 2026 dates. 👀

My Christmas VIP list will get first access to the appointments before I release them publicly, and there are only a limited number of sessions available across my initial dates.

**What's the most random thing your child has ever brought home in their pocket? 😂**

For me… it was Play-Doh.

One of my boys absolutely LOVED Play-Doh when he was little. He was very sensory and apparently the Play-Doh at playschool was just too good to leave behind. 😂

On days they'd made it at playschool, he'd fill his pockets with it and bring it home.

I lost count of the amount of times I'd take his trousers out of the washing machine only to discover I'd washed yet another pocketful of Play-Doh. 🤦‍♀️

But it gets better…

Sometimes he'd go back into playschool the next day and casually start playing with Play-Doh he'd **hidden somewhere in the setting the day before.** 😂😂

This wasn't a one-off either. It was a regular occurrence.

Clearly he had his own little Play-Doh supply chain going on. 😂

Please tell me I'm not alone…
