Most of my posts this year have been limited to the wildlife I've captured while travelling across Africa, but I have also been predominantly capturing marketing-style imagery of safaris and the day-to-day routine of being out here. Hi 👋 I’m Harry.

I’m a wildlife and landscape photographer, guide, and educator based on the Isle of Skye — though these days you’ll also find me spending a lot of time in Africa, photographing incredible wildlife, exploring wild places, and helping people make the most of their own travel and photography experiences.

I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors, the natural world, and the stories that come with both. What started as a love of being outside and carrying a camera has turned into a career that’s taken me to some extraordinary places, from the Scottish Highlands to the African bush.

Through my work, I try to do a few things: create photographs that feel honest and evocative, share practical knowledge that helps others improve, and encourage people to connect more deeply with the landscapes and animals they’re lucky enough to experience.

This page is where I share my adventures, behind-the-scenes moments, photography tips, travel insights, and the occasional glimpse into the chaos of life behind the camera.

Stop worrying about your camera, your lens, how big it is (heh 😏) - this video and image shows the dramatic change of adjusting your angle relative to the subject. Now both angles work, but as an image the darker higher contrast version certainly grabs the attention more right? Good guides on safari may already have an eye for this sort of thing but of course that’s why heading out with a professional photographer can help fine tune the position of a vehicle, line up the subject with the right background etc. When you scroll through pictures on instagram, rather than checking what lens it was taken with, try and identify the angle of light, the position of the camera, why it works. THAT is how you’ll improve your own photography.

The calm controlled power of leopards. Lions may be the biggest but considering they spend 99.99999% of their time asleep it’s much more interesting watching these agile masters of stealth. These are two brothers who despite leaving their mother’s side are still occasionally hanging around together. I’m not sure that will last too much longer as they look to stake their own claim in the valley of the leopard.
