Why Luxembourg should be on your travel list 📋
With an area of 2,586 square kilometres it is one of the smallest countries in Europe, yet one of the most developed. Despite the area, there is so much to see in Luxembourg.
You can visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, Grand Ducal Palace, go for a stroll in the Luxembourg City historical seat – Grund or simply explore the beautiful countryside.
There are so many options so here are my top 4 places worth visiting while in Luxembourg.
🏰City of Luxembourg – The capital of the country is the perfect place to start your travel. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the perfect combination of medieval and modern architecture. While there, make sure you visit the Grand Ducal Palace, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Place d’Armes, Adolphe Bridge, and the underground defences – the casemates. Also, you can enjoy the view of Luxembourg City from Passerelle Viaduc – one of the most known bridges in Luxembourg, built in 1861 to connect the centre of the city.
🏰Vianden – This picturesque city is located near the German border. It is most known by its castle that stands on the hills above the River Our. The castle was home to Luxembourg royalty for centuries. There are many hiking trails around the Vianden that are leading to Our Valley. Also, make sure you check out the Vicor Hugo museum. This is actually a house where he once lived during his exile turned into a museum to his memory.
🏰Larochette – Located on two hills just above the City of Luxembourg, Larochette offers you the perfect view over the capital but also over the picturesque woodlands that encircle it. The most important attractions are the medieval square, the Musem of Industry, a castle called Maison de Crehange.
🏰 Beaufort Castle – Located in the small city of Beaufort, the castle is one of the most visited tourist attractions that dates back to the 18th century. Even though some parts of the castle are in ruins, you can always explore its interior or enjoy the stroll around the castle, on the roads that take you to the surrounding woods.
