The famous little lakeland cottage.

I took this image on Friday after braving the biblical Lake District weather. We set off from the car with our waterproofs on and within 10 minutes we were soaked through. Never known anything like it. It was worth it though. Nice to finally get back to the lakes after nearly 12 months.

It could only be Blackpool.

Taken on a walk around the famous seaside town on a summers evening. A bit of a different view of the famous tower, rather than the usual promenade.

Misty walks

This is probably the first photo for a long time I’ve truly been satisfied with. I took my camera out on a whim during the Christmas break and I was glad I did when I saw this scene before me. I quite like the road stretching through the scene.

The little red house.

One from the spectacular hoar frost a couple of weeks ago. I’ve never really seen this house as a worthy subject until I saw it in these conditions.

The aliens have landed.

We went for a walk on Crosby beach this morning and this is the best I could do. I’ve gone for a dull edit to reflect the mood of the morning.

Love a bit of hoar frost.

Not the best of locations but the weather truly helps this image to work. The white and the red of the leaves really stood out to me on this one.

It’s been so long since I’ve been out with my camera, let alone posted so I took my chance today and snapped these shots. Love a bit of snow.

Elegug

What a magnificent sight these stacks are rising out of the sea. I have never seen anything like it. Here in the north west our beaches are fairly flat and sandy so it was great to explore the rugged coast of Pembrokeshire back in May. The amount of birds clinging to the rocks was also amazing, it’s definitely a coast I’d like to explore further.

Pink Sky in the morning…

“Fail to plan, plan to fail” being a teacher this was a saying that was always drilled into me when at university, however I’d arguably say over planning can also be detrimental to your creativity and here’s why…

I’m a bit of a stickler for checking the weather forecast the night before and deciding if it’s worth going out early in the morning, I often spend ages trying to decide if it’s worth it or not and often don’t end up going anywhere because I stress it’s not going to be ‘optimal’.

For this particular outing I had done exactly that. I decided to go to bed without an alarm or plan as I had over thought the possibility of it being food and decided the sunrise wasn’t going to be special, I mean I wouldn’t mind but I don’t really have a clue when it comes to predicting a good weather or a sunrise!

Anyway when I woke up the next morning, lucky early, I noticed the sky had begun to glow. I rushed out like a headless chicken and managed to get this shot. If I’d have been a couple of minutes later I would surely have missed this image.

I wonder how many more awesome mornings I’ve missed due to over thinking about what if? Maybe I just need to be a little more spontaneous with a rough plan, rather than planning everything to the last detail and not going out unless it’s perfect..just a thought.

The house under the Langdales.

I’ve not been out with my camera in what seems like months so I’ve had to delve into my back catalogue for this one.

I took this back in January on a very cold morning. I ventured down to the River Brathay hoping for some hoar frost but no luck. As I walked down the river bank I spotted the reeds with the house in the distance and I wondered who lived there. What a beautiful place to live, I wasn’t jealous at all!

Anyway this image has been sitting on my hard drive ever since, I hope you like it.

A Lake District icon, do you know it?

I took this shot back in April during Storm Kathleen. The wind was battering the lakes, swirling up the lake and sending cascades of light all over the mountains. A truly epic sight. I’ve not been to the lakes much since, hopefully managed to get up there at the weekend.

Hope you all enjoy!
