💛Every year we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st, with the day fast approaching, we couldn’t be more excited!

🧡If this is your first year celebrating or you’re not sure what World Down Syndrome Day is about - the 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Every year on March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness and understanding.

💚At Down Syndrome UK, we believe in celebrating people with Down syndrome every day. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing exciting ways you can get involved and celebrate at work, at school, nursery, or in your community. Whether it’s hosting an event, sharing stories, or taking part in our 21 Challenge, there’s something for everyone to make this year unforgettable.

We will be holding an online fundraising Auction to mark World Down’s Syndrome Day in March and we are on the look out for some fantastic auction lots to make sure we can raise lots of money for Sparkles! In previous auctions we’ve had some fabulous lots such as meals out, afternoon teas, hotel stays, days out and beauty treatments!

🧡We are delighted to be collaborating with Kelly Burgoyne and Pamela Qualter of the University of Manchester to support an important project about friendships in mainstream primary schools.

💚This PhD offers an exciting and unique opportunity to conduct a collaborative project that will have a direct impact on social and emotional development and educational inclusion of children with Down syndrome in mainstream primary schools in the UK.

🌟 Exciting News for Something Special Fans! 🌟

A brand-new series of Something Special: We're All Friends is launching on Monday 13th January, and it’s packed with exciting changes!

Joining the much-loved Mr Tumble and Justin Fletcher are two incredible new presenters – Maddie Moate and Ben Cajee! Plus, the brilliant George Webster will feature throughout the series, bringing even more fun!

Each episode will start with Mr Tumble sending his Spotty Bag to Justin, Maddie, or Ben. Together with some amazing children, they’ll uncover special clues, learn new Makaton signs, and have lots of fun exploring and playing.
