Why digitize old photos?
One of the most rewarding parts of this job is when the product gives great delight to a customer, even when they know it is coming! This happens because they are so used to seeing the photos in the "normal way" that when they see them again in the "new way" – it’s as if they’re being seen for the very first time.
Think of the memories that come flooding back.
Remember the anticipation waiting for the Boots envelope to arrive?
The common example is when grand-parents and parents are re-united with digital versions of their old photos where their offspring have made it happen (with my help!). My best example is one person’s 90 year’s worth of digitized photos put together in a movie and shown on a big TV as well as printed in a photobook. Secured for the future.
So please think ahead, get the family’s photo archive saved in digital format – it gives something special to those family members who are closest to the images – and the future possibilities are opened up for everyone else (photobooks, birthday & Christmas cards, calendars, T shirts).
Here are some early 60’s holiday snaps recently digitized from 35mm slides and re-united with their owners, to whom I give thanks for allowing me to reproduce here.
