New work for architects - a strategic decision at Leighton Park School in Reading to relocate the junior boarders from their previous vertical house system to a boarding house of their own led to the remodelling of their current junior day house. Accommodating 25 boarding spaces for students and associated staff residences, the completely refurbished building is split into boys and girls wings with shared kitchen facilities and a variety of spaces for socialising, studying and relaxing.

I started a project working with the students at Red Balloon Learner Centre back at the start of this year. Today we finally installed the work that we made together. Running up the stairwell of the building, there are now 13 ‘cabinets of curiosities’

Sainsbury’s (Reading), 52-55 Friar Street, Reading RG1
‘Festival style’ supermarket building with concrete screen, zig-zag canopy and all sorts of detailing. Opened in 1963, it was cutting edge at the time, and the firm’s third-biggest store.
