One of the prominent features on the South Coast of Cornwall is the Grib. A day mark at the eastern edge of St Austell Bay and a very underrated stretch of coast path to walk.

The small woodland just to the right of the daymark should be filled with bluebells now and wild flowers are starting to bloom all around Cornwall.

Every year volunteers open the daymark for visitors to climb and see the bay from the top. It doesn’t happen often so worth keeping a keen eye out!

Golden glow over Carlyon Bay and the grand hotel.

This part of Cornwall holds far too many memories for me, my old stomping grounds as they say πŸ˜… Who remembers Gossips? Stumbling up that hill from the coliseum after too many drinks, seems like yesterday 😬 (25 years ago!)

In Cornwall, you're hung drawn, and quartered if you utter the name of a beach like Kynance Cove as if it's some best-kept secret that no one wants you to share. I know not all are like that and we should be responsible but the world is there to enjoy, not hide.

Beaches in Croatia are a bit few and far between but when you do find one the people are incredibly welcoming and want you to share and show it off! We found this beach with google maps and when we arrived we discovered the access was made by a retired bloke who used explosives to make a pathway down. We couldn't stop him from talking πŸ˜… The people of Croatia were absolutely brilliant and had such a love and appreciation for their corner of the world, it's no wonder why with places like this on offer!

After leaving beautiful Montenegro we passed through the southernmost tip of Croatia, winding through the roads we enjoyed views of Cyprus trees and distant views of Bosnia. On the road, we spotted this almost Brunel-like viaduct and a strange mound in the distance. On investigation, the mound is called Gomila Bobuc and is, in fact, a prehistoric burial mound, one of several in the area.

A reminder of the long history of settlement in the Adriatic.

The old town of Budva is similar in lots of ways to the other fortified towns in and around the Adriatic coast, however, the settlement of Budva is 2,500 years old making it one of the oldest in the area. The majority of the old town was built much more recently however and actually needed to be rebuilt extensively in the early 1980s due to a catastrophic earthquake that hit the area in 1979.

Even on a grey day this impressive old town is a jewel of the bay, surrounded by modern high-rises and hotels.

Another view from the blue waters around Sveti Nikola near Budva for you today.

When researching all the places to visit on our road trip, the island of Sveti Nikola really fascinated me, with a narrow and shallow spit extending all the way to the mainland. If this wasn't in the Mediterranean and was tidal you'd surely be able to walk across at low tide? As it is you can't but the shoal, known as Plicina Tunjaj creates beautifully blue waters all around Budva Bay.

Across the water from Budva sits the stunning island of Sveti Nikola. We only had a very short stay on the island due to the tourist season not having started yet. It has some amazing beaches and snorkeling that we, unfortunately, didn't have time for.

What I found amazing is the fact that, while the island doesn't have any permanent residents, it does have several families of Deer living on the uncultivated side. Next time we will explore a lot more!

The island of Sveti Stefan is a must-visit on the Montenegrin coastline. A tombolo connects the island to the rest of the town and while it might've been a tidal island at one point, is now permanently connected via a walkway.

This was a fleeting visit for us and as access to the island is restricted we were only able to admire it from the shoreline (and air) Montenegro's own St Michaels Mount πŸ˜…

The longest stop on our little dip into Albania was into the village of Temare where we had lunch and met some of the locals who seemed a bit bemused at these two Brits pitching up in such an 'untouristy' part of their country. Goat was on the menu so that was naturally what I went for but the 'entrails of animal guts' also featuring on the menu was a hard nope! We had a selection of dishes with a few drinks and I think the total bill was about Β£15 so if you want authentic Albanian cuisine this was a good shout!

Pictured on the bottom left of this shot is 'Temare Beach' and I was shocked to not see Borat in his mankini πŸ˜…

Albania was on my to do list for a few reasons but the main reason was the incredible Top Gear like drivers roads. The Rrapsh Serpentine road was incredible and the top hairpin presented some of the best views of the surrounding mountains, with views all the way through and into Montenegro and also across the Albanian villages of Peshtan and Temare.

A driver and drone pilots heaven!

Crossing the border from Montenegro into Albania was like something out of Indiana Jones. We came across this pretty dodgy-looking rope bridge over the River Cemi and it was too cool an experience to pass up. The water below was so clear and the bridge marked the start of a hiking trail through the mountain border between the two countries.

We didn't have time for a hike unfortunately but still crossed the bridge a couple of times.

I took so many photos here in the bay of Kotor and it's one of those places that looks better on the ground than it does in the air. That being said, a lot of the 'ground' is sloped up mountains so the drone wasn't really needed.

Kotor is a popular stop for cruise ships and during our two days there we saw several come in and out of the bay. The bay is technically not a bay and has been described as 'the most southern fjord in Europe' In actual fact it is a Ria, a drowned river valley formed by glaciers and permanently open to the sea.

Whatever it is, it's flipping gorgeous!
