Our team consists of ex miners, cavers and mine rescue, every trip is taken with caution and callouts made to other members of where we are underground. Two of the team lighting up the old rotten timbers in this small stope above in this East Cornwall tin mine, dating back to around 1830 onwards.

A level in a East Cornwall tin mine that is usually deep in water, note the white line on the right hand side where the water level usually is. A fellow explorer in the photo for the impressive scale of these workings.

Happy Blue Monday!
Fellow explorers (Tim and Paul) from the Carbis Bay Crew, making their way back across the planks in a stope above the blue waterfall in a old Cornish mixed mine, around 160ft below the surface.

I would like to share this awesome artwork created by artist Kate Cartwright, who got inspiration from the photos I post to create them.
For those who are interested, she has these and more on display at Kresen Kernow (Redruth) for the whole of September. She hopes to be there in person on Thursdays and for the Saturday 12th during Redruth's Mining and Pasty weekend alongside the Cornish Family History Society.

My buddy in the distance for scale in a tin mines cavernous sized stope, one of many stopes this size too.

Looking across a stope towards the start of a blue mineral waterfall in a Cornish mixed mine, where many minerals was extracted such as tin, copper, arsenic, lead...
The old chains were put in some time ago and the bolts holding them are long past their best. Around 160ft below the surface here with a drop of about 90ft below this and a further drop down to water.

Walking the planks on timbers over the top of a stope with deep drop of at least 100ft below in this old mixed mine. Thankfully clipped onto the rope above, safety is paramount underground!

Happy Blue Monday!
A strip of blue mineral formations in this old tin mine stope, around 2cm in hight and still growing slowly each year as water pushes out the micro fine minerals and leaves this strange strip like formation.
