Three flamingos, three different stages of landing — all captured in a single frame.

And just to clarify, this isn’t a composite image. This is exactly how it happened, with all three birds coming in together.

Sometimes everything just falls into place!

Not quite the river crossing we were hoping for…...

We didn’t get to witness a Great Migration river crossing on this last trip, but in Amboseli we did watch a steady stream of wildebeest making their way across one of the small waterways.

Nothing dramatic, no crocodiles and no huge river — just wildebeest being wildebeest, following one another across the water.

And still great fun to photograph!

Trying something a little different…...

Playing around with slow shutter speeds and intentional camera movement.

I love how it changes an ordinary wildlife scene into something much more abstract — less about capturing every detail and more about creating a sense of movement.

Definitely something I’d like to experiment with more.

Baby olive baboons are just brilliant to watch!

This little one was having a great time climbing around in the trees, stopping every so often to have a look at what was going on around him.

They’re so curious at this age and absolutely full of character. I know it’s usually the big cats that get most of my attention, but sometimes it’s these smaller moments that are just as enjoyable to photograph.

And with a face like that, how could I resist!

Wildlife Photography on Safari — Ann Aveyard

Wildlife photographer Ann Aveyard shares the story of how one safari to Kenya sparked a passion for photography and ultimately led to a completely new career.
