🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 In the Great Glen sits this wee cottage, overlooked by mountains, supported by a little, cold river running last and partially protected by the Scottish weather by a small woodblock on one side.

This is my idea of bliss. Remote living, peace, not concerned by the issues of the world. Quite, wildlife, a wholesome lasting peace. .. ❄️

👑The stunning, captivating historical Ripon Cathedral.
Founded as a monastery by monks of the Irish tradition in the 660s, it was refounded as a Benedictine monastery by St Wilfrid in 672. The church became collegiate in the tenth century, and acted as a mother church within the large Diocese of York for the remainder of the Middle Ages.

❄️🥶Imagine having a small log cabin in here with little windows and a small porch to sit out on, a livingroom kitchen with a roaring fire. No internet, news, not worrying what’s going on round the other side of the world, just a life of peace. Peace +

🟨 Alaska, no, Cod Beck Yorkshire. Great snow days, perfect for walks and seeing the world in a different way.

❄️Misty winter forests is winters gold. A place eerily quiet, not a sound, barely any movement.

Life has hunkered down for the winter, found a place to rest, died back or sitting as a food cache somewhere for winter fuel.

Love the moody vibes.

🥶Cod Beck with a sprinkle of snow. ❄️

The building of the reservoir was started in 1948 with final completion in 1953.The dam head height is listed as being 24.4 m (80 ft)and an old pit at Crathorne was re-opened in 1950 to supply clay to line the dam head

The treatment works was closed down in 2006 after the deterioration of the quality of the water from the moorland and the presence of Cryptosporidium; water is now supplied to Northallerton and Thirsk, and to Osmotherley village, from Thornton Steward Reservoir.Cod Beck Reservoir now operates as a compensation reservoir to maintain flow into the downstream reaches of Cod Beck and as such, it is still operated and maintained by the local water company.

🟨🥶Crisp fresh mornings, different colours and life happening. There was an old man on the bench to the left of this photo, sitting taking it all in. I would like to know his story, his name, his career, what’s important to him, why is he sitting he, what’s he thinking about.
Next time, I’ll probably just ask.
