Just a quick shot of my first day back at work. Absolutely beautiful area and a beautiful view of Durham Cathedral.

My job can have a stunning backdrop sometimes 😍😍

My dream place to go for a hike.

Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands is an astonishingly beautiful place, with The 3 Sisters mountains enveloping the most brilliant road to drive through in the whole of the UK.

This video just shows how amazing the place is and a place I long to visit.

I know I've just put a post out thanking people, but if you can spare about 2 minutes of time to invite people to like the page, I would be unbelievably appreciative.

All you need to do is:
1. Go to The Average Hiker page
2. Click on the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the cover photo
3. Click the Invite Friends button
4. Click the Send to All button
5. Double check and make sure the list has either disappeared or has different names on it. This is because it might take a while to process 1000 invites and if you leave the screen, it won't send the rest out.
6. If you have more than 1000 friends, not only are you extremely popular, but if you can click the same button again and send to the rest.

I promise, I don't normally ask this much of people 🀣 Oh yeah one more thing

7. Wish me luck for going back into work tomorrow after 2 weeks off πŸ™ˆ

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has followed so far. 60 people in 48 hours is good going for starting this from complete scratch.

My main aims with this page on Facebook are to showcase how beautiful the area is in which we live and show that you can do things like this with the family (or without if you want to do it alone) without having to spend a tonne of money. Well except that petrol prices are going through the bloody roof right now πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

These walks are also excellent for your mental health and can take you away from the stresses and tribulations of everyday life, even if it is for a short amount of time, and this is something I want to be a champion for. Life is tough and money is tough for a large chunk of us right now, so finding something you enjoy to ease the stress will be invaluable to most right now.

I'll be honest with yous in saying the videos aren't perfect right now and they are a work in progress, but that'll take time to get right.

I will also be branching out on to YouTube as well when I decide on which GoPro to and trying my hand at higher quality videos.

And as a thank you for making it this far, here is a video of me and Finn having a discussion about whether dinosaurs are nocturnal or not 🀣🀣

A little bit bleak and miserable today, so just going to take Evie for a walk on my last day of 2 weeks off graft.

What do yous like to do when yous have a reasonable amount of time off work? Obviously I like going for walks, but I also love following Sunderland (still buzzing off last Sunday) and taking our oldest to the games or watching them at home with him when we can't make it.

One more quick question as well, if you could go hiking anywhere in the World, where would your feet take you? Mine would take me to Glencoe in Scotland as it just looks magical up there.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

What a beautiful hike we had today through Pontburn Woods and getting to take in the lovely Lintz Waterfall. This scenic woodland route was a small walk (only 2 miles long) and had some beautiful streams, trees and plants along the way. It's located just before you get into Hamsterley Mill when coming along from Burnhopfield on the B6310.

All 4 of us decided to head out on a fantastic day for a hike, and as you may realise whilst watching the video, one of us is in a very talkative mood all the way through, and surprisingly it isn’t me 🀣

Going to be a few small clips of Finn at his finest during this hike to post tomorrow but its great to see both the boys loving having some nature hikes and realising the beauty that is around them right on their doorstep.

Small photo dump of our last walk over Causey and Beamish.

Today, we are taking the kids on a shorter walk with some more beautiful and scenic views. Videos will be incoming very soon!

With our oldest Josh being disabled, it limits the amount of time we can be hiking and how difficult the terrain can be.

If anyone can recommend any 1-2 mile hikes which are easier on the legs (these can be local or further afield) then please let us know in the comments.

A short hike through Causey and Beamish for me and Vicky.

This lovely 4 mile walk is just off the Causey road between Stanley and Sunniside and has some absolutely beautiful views and brilliant architecture starting and ending at the Causey Arch.
