✨ Four things that train my eye as a photographer

1. Films 🎬

Watching films gives me so much to find inspiration from; lighting, colour, world‑building, framing, tiny details you only notice when you slow down. I’m always stealing little tidbits from the screen.

2. Getting lost in a good book 📚

Autobiographies, other photographers, fiction… anything. My imagination has always been overactive, and reading lets me disappear into a world my mind builds for me. It always comes back out in my work somehow.

3. Travel 🧳

Near or far, big or small, planned or without purpose; everywhere I go, I bring a little piece of it home. New places fuel the way I see light, people, and stories.

4. Walking (without a camera) 🚶‍♀️

Sometimes you just need to be out in the rain, wind, or sun with nothing between you and the world. No screen, no pressure. That’s usually when the curiosity comes back.

How to choose an outfit for your portrait session 👀✨

A lot of photographers will tell you to stick to neutrals, avoid bold patterns, and match each other if it’s a group or family shoot.

I say screw that. Wear the bold patterns. Wear the colours. Wear whatever makes you feel amazing... and absolutely own it 😸🔥

If you want photos that show off your fit and how good you feel in it, DM me to book your session 🖤

Tell me you love cats without telling me you love cats.

I present: my camera roll, wall art, and my entire personality 😸

POV: when someone says “your camera takes really good photos”

Amazing. Can’t wait to see what yours creates on its own 😸

The original plan was to do a sunrise walk up Yr Wyddfa South Ridge... but the weather had other ideas 🌧️ 🌬️

With gale-force winds and heavy rain forecast, we curve-balled and stayed closer to sea level.

My friend is full of interesting hobbies so when she suggested long boarding, I was like 'hell yeah' 😸

We rolled on down from Colwyn to Rhos and back again, with a lunch stop in between. The cafe vibe was reminding me of Thailand... anyone want to move out there with me? 🇹🇭

I only wiped out once, so I'm calling that a success 🛹 🏆

How does this make you feel?

As photographers we are taught all the 'rules';
👀 -eyes should look into the frame, not out of it
🥉 - the point of interest should sit on a third
📖 - images are read left to right, so you should guide the viewer that way

But where's the fun in sticking to the rules all of the time. And more than that, if everyone followed the rules all of the time, would any progress really be made?

As Captain Barbossa says "The code is more what you’d call guidelines than actual rules.” Breaking the rules intentionally is where things get interesting.

So.. I'm curious, as a viewer, how does this photo make you feel? Let me know in the comments below 📸 🖤

I've been experimenting with a new lighting technique and accidentally discovered how to photograph ghosts! 👻

They're shy but once you get them in front of the camera, they really commit.

Bookings now open for supernatural portraits 🪄

Golden hour or rainstorm... I’m not picky 🌅 🌧️

The evenings are finally getting longer again, and the light tonight was too good to ignore.

Perfect for getting outside, running around in a field. You know, the usual stuff 😸

And then, obviously, the rain came again, but the sun still stayed to play. BUT at Sea Rae photography we don't let the rain ruin our fun. It can add that little bit extra to your images, giving that bit of mood.

If you want photos in the evening sun, or the evening rain, come shoot with me. 📸✨🌿🌦️

Most people think the work ends when I put the camera down 📸

It doesn’t.

This is the part you never see, the hours spent fiddling with colour, light, and mood until the image finally feels right 🖼️
