I've heard all of these in response to cake smash sessions, let's address each one...

1. They don't understand - they don't need to understand to celebrate
2. It's a waste of cake - you can choose your own budget for your cake, it doesn't have to cost a lot, plus most babies hardly touch the front, so its salvageable.
3. They don't eat sugar - they don't actually eat a lot of the cake, it's more play, but you are welcome to have a cake made that's reduced sugar
4. They're too young to remember - yes at this moment, but think how they'll feel looking back on these photos, knowing their birthday was celebrated in such a special way!

Plus - YOU will remember! And have these memories for life!

Rather than another present to fill the house that's donated when they outgrow it, why not celebrate baby's first birthday with a cake smash (or birthday session if you really don't want the cake!)

Recently, I've had a flurry of maternity sessions and there's one thing they've had in common.....

Each of the mums-to-be have requested to capture my shadow, higher depth style images, using just one directional light when shooting, as well as the even tone of two lights.

I absolutely love using creative lighting in my maternity sessions - these sessions are just perfect for this kind of look.
