I haven’t posted this image before … but thought I should as I woke up to find it’s been selected for the exhibition at the Rome International Photography Festival … super proud as I haven’t had the inclination to enter work into competitions for a couple of years and I only recently took up street photography… I needed a new muse to replace my kids as they move on into the world… but I can already feel the pull, it’s addictive!

It’s been a hot minute …

I can’t really tell you where I have been or what I have been doing …

Just that life stuff got busy and the less I came here the less I wanted to be here.

I’m trying to do that more, shed the things that don’t bring me joy …

But I do miss that wonderful thing that Instagram used to offer in simpler (less algorithmic) times, a vibrant creative community.

So we’re taking it off line and making an evening of it …

Join myself and on Thursday 18th January for a free live training, combined with our super popular image critique!

We’ll discuss the Holy Trinity of documentary family photography, dissect some of the famous photographs to show WHY they work and of course look at some of the the images YOU submit, offering insight and advice on how to improve.

Having your work critiqued is a great learning tool and, in addition to constant practice, is one of the best ways to improve as a documentary shooter.

The relationship between my daughters is endlessly fascinating, oscillating between harmony and an indescribable closeness, to needling and pressing buttons only they know where to find. Arguments of volcanic intensity can subside to offer up a heap of intertwined limbs. It’s instinctive and untamed, untarnished by the mind games of conditional friendships. A really rather wonderful organic being in itself that I cherish and envy, I think that’s why I am so drawn to photograph it.
