Maternity, Newborn and family

Award winning photographer Hello, Emma here. I specialise in newborn and family photography.

I have had my home studio just under two years now and I would say my style is simplicity and natural photography. My sessions aren't posed with false smiles and awkward poses. They are fun and relaxed and the children get to play just like they do at home this then captures natural interaction and those moments when a child's smile can light up the room. All my clients like this approach and want

to be included in my sessions as they love how natural the images look as it truly captures the bond between the family. There is nothing better than seeing images in a home that shows loving and natural emotions that you can treasure in years to come.

I can finally see the light shining through my editing pile. Galleries have been taking a little longer with the summer holidays, but I’m back at it and working my way through. I’m hoping to be fully caught up soon, so thank you all for your patience and understanding.

This beautiful family were holidaying in Cornwall to celebrate some very special milestone birthdays, and I was honoured to be asked to capture their memories. I feel so blessed when families from all over the world choose me to document these moments for them.

The summer break has finally come to an end, and what a summer it’s been. We’ve packed these weeks with memories for Caleb — sunshine, friends, family, and non‑stop adventures that I know will stay with him for years.

But I won’t pretend it’s all been easy. Our little ones thrive on routine, and when that disappears, the wobbliness creeps in for all of us. And as much as I adore having him home, the mum‑guilt hits hard when I’m working from home and he’s right there needing me.

So here we are… normality restored. A fresh start, a new rhythm, and a very busy few months ahead.

Sending so much love to the mums whose little ones are starting school today — and to the children feeling those first‑day nerves. You’re doing amazing, even when it feels messy. We’ve got this.

Some sessions stay with you long after you’ve left the studio… and this one truly did.
Our fur babies are such a huge part of our families, and watching this sweet soul curl up close while Mum held her little one made my heart melt.
It’s moments like these — gentle, honest, beautifully unposed — that remind me why I do what I do.

✨ Tips for a Calm, Stress‑Free Newborn Session

Those early days are fleeting, but your session doesn’t have to feel rushed or overwhelming. A few gentle steps help keep everything peaceful and cosy:

1. Feed baby before we begin — a full tummy usually means a content, sleepy little one ready to settle in.
2. Warm, snuggly room — I keep the studio toasty so baby feels safe, soothed, and happy.
3. Go with baby’s rhythm — feeds, cuddles, pauses… it’s all part of the magic. We follow their cues every step of the way.
4. Bring a dummy — even if they don’t usually use one, it can help them drift off or settle during transitions.

Your role is to unwind and savor the moment—I will handle everything else.

This session has been rearranged so many times— but today we finally caught our break.
And what an afternoon it turned out to be with Leigh and her beautiful boys.
We wandered along the nature trail, guessed the storybook clues, discovered fairy doors tucked between the trees… and in the middle of it all, I got to capture moments like this.
Just a mum, her boys, and a whole lot of love.

Why newborn photos matter ✨

I get it — not everyone loves seeing themselves in photos. I’m the same. But since having Caleb I’ve realised how fast time disappears and how easily those tiny days slip away. That’s exactly why newborn sessions matter. You carried this little person for nine months, and now they’re finally in your arms for a moment you’ll never get back. Why not capture it?

Some people see it as an extra expense. I see it as an investment. Years from now you’ll sit together as a family and look back at these moments. Your child will see how deeply they were loved, and one day they’ll share these images with their own family.

My newborn sessions are relaxed and natural, not stiff or overly posed. If you feel awkward in front of a camera, that’s okay — I aim to capture the real, quiet moments that become a lifetime of memories.

Hello Sunday ✨We’ve made it through another week, and I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for the kids to head back to school . I’ve loved every minute with Caleb, the slow mornings, the adventures, the chaos, but I’m definitely craving a bit of normal routine again.

Who else is counting down the days until school starts?

As we step into the autumn months, my diary will naturally become a little more limited. You’ve probably guessed why — football season is back, and I’m doing my very best to be Caleb’s biggest supporter at his Sunday matches.

Weekend sessions will still be available, but they are very limited. September is already shaping up to be a busy one, with no weekend availability and only a handful of weekday spaces remaining. And before we know it, November will bring the return of my much‑loved mini sessions.

Location sessions will continue, though they’ll likely take place slightly earlier in the evenings as those darker nights start to creep in.

If you’re thinking about booking a session with me, please reach out as soon as possible. I truly don’t like turning people away, and I’d love to secure a date that works for you.

There’s something so powerful about the quiet moments of early motherhood — the gentle creases in newborn skin, the softness of their tiny hands, the way they rest so naturally in your arms.

These are the details that slip by unnoticed in the rush of those first days, yet mean everything when you look back. The real, honest moments. The ones that show the beginning of your story together.

Motherhood isn’t polished; it’s felt. And images like this remind you just how beautifully real it all is.
