Apologies for the lack of photos lately but the camera hasn’t left its bag since returning from holiday!
However, I’m slowly working my way through the holiday snaps & this one jumped out at me. It’s the sun rising under the 25th April bridge as we approached Lisbon last month, another magical moment. Cropped only, otherwise unedited…

Here's the best of the rest of the total solar eclipse, 12th August 2026.
All took with a Canon 90d & Tamron 18-400mm lens set at 339mm, on a Jewsons mini tripod (£2 boot sale find!) on top of a service cabinet on the Sky Deck 19 of the P&O Ventura, somewhere off the coast of north-west Spain. And a few iPhone shots too. Mostly unedited, just cropped, a lot of the shots were unusable due to being blurred and/or the horrible flaring caused by the filter I bought for the occasion (£10 second hand, I guess I got what I paid for). I whipped the filter off just before totality thankfully!

Ok, it was 9 days ago & I know it’s last week’s chip wrappers, but I promised you my best eclipse shot on my return to dry land & here it is.
Where was I? Aboard the P&O Ventura several miles off the coast of north-west Spain. Quite possibly the trickiest set of photographs I’ve ever taken as I was zoomed in at 339mm on a ship & the image was constantly moving. This was the moment the sun reappeared creating the “diamond ring” effect.
God bless the captain for not staying in El Ferrol as originally planned, it was shrouded in sea fog come the moment! Spectacular, and then some, expect a few more…

There you go folks, I think I managed to get what I came for! These are phone shots of the back of the camera, you’ll have to wait for the proper ones when I’m back on dry land. Very tricky to photograph perched on top of an electrical cupboard aboard a moving ship, but hey, it was spectacular! 👌

Best of the rest of the wander around Blackleyhurst, Billinge a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to those who pointed out the blue crop was linseed, looked glorious for a few weeks.
And don't forget Faye & I will be at The Holts Arms - The Foot's 305th birthday bash tomorrow (Sunday 2nd August) selling prints & paintings, etc from 1:00 pm :-)
