So last night was a bit of a bust so I suppose I will just have to be content with what I captured on Saturday night...Not that I'm complaining, it was a first for me seeing the Aurora and an experience I will never forget....

Golden moment was when I captured a shooting star in one of the exposures... Two spectacles for the price of one :-)

So here is my final set...

A little 160deg 3 shot panoramic showing the Aurora over my home in Wiltshire last night... that bright bit of sky on the horizon is Salisbury - about 7 miles away.

This was shot at 10mm with the camera angled back almost 45deg to get as much sky as possible.... as you can imagine reducing the distortion was a bit of a challenge.

So I think I managed to catch possibly the last misty morning for the bluebells for this year along with some gorgeous shafts of light. With the weekend temps climbing and the Bluebells near the end of their run its likely we wont get any more cold damp mornings for a while.

Life's all about change...

From Bluebells to wild Garlic in one week...Luckily this lovely woodland area with winding streams is just a quick 5 min drive from my home.

Have a great weekend folks.. :-)

So my first proper morning out with the new camera doing landscape, back to a favourite location that has served me well over the years. I decided that rather than run around looking for multiple scenes I'd just focus on one, so I spent pretty much 2 hours with the camera pointed at a single subject, watching and waiting for that perfect moment as the sun peeked over the top of the distant tree line shooting a few clean shafts of light deep into the scene and onto my main subject. I've always loved the way the bright green contrasts so strongly against the carpet of Bluebells in these woodlands.

So far, very happy with the R7... :-)

Notification: Last courses for the next 6 Months

With an exciting and demanding new role starting in the new year, I have decided that I will be taking a 6 month sabbatical from running workshops and photography in general so I can concentrate fully on that new challenge.

With that in mind, the 4 x 1day workshops that I currently have listed will be my last for a while.

On a personal note, I think I needed a bit of a break anyway, some time to re-charge the creative batteries so to speak, and to let all the frustrations of the social 'game' that is todays photography to wash away. No doubt I will be out shooting occasionally for recreation, but it will be on my terms, for my own reasons and without the pressure to 'deliver'...

I do however want to thank each and every one of my students both recent and long term... you guys are great, you keep me endlessly entertained with your enthusiasm, passion, and constant ability to surprise me with what you deliver so THAN YOU... one and all. :-)

For anybody interested in grabbing a slot on one of my remaining courses you can find all the info here...:-)

With the success of our recent full day Masterclass workshops, (and just in time as a Christmas gift to your partner or friend 🙂 ) I am very pleased to announce that I have added 2 more dates in January for the Seascapes Masterclass, and 2 dates for the Landscape Masterclass. I have also organised these back to back so that that if you wish, you could do a full 2 day Seascape/Landscape Masterclass across 1 weekend, or split it across 2 weekends if you wish.

Each full day session includes full tuition at a maximum of 3-1, Lunch on me, and an online post editing session arranged for shortly after the course date.

Those who wish to book 2 days (Landscape and Seascape) will get a 10% discount off the full fee.

For more information and to book, please have a look at the main events page here: https://www.facebook.com/srgfineartlandscapes/events/

We've had a great spell of thick freezing fog at night lately here in Downton, and it looks like we are to get a few more yet.... With that in mind, this afternoon I went out for a quick stroll around the village and across the local water meadows to see what I could snap... The trees covered in hoarfrost are absolutely stunning.... :-)

A huge congratulations and many thanks to the ladies and gents of Windlesham & Camberley Camera Club who attended a dedicated club workshop at Kimmeridge bay yesterday... We were blessed by great conditions and fantastic light despite the very low temperatures especially as it plummeted at sunset. Everybody had a great time and it was such a lovely change to see a club that puts equal attention into progression and learning as it does competition.... Well done to everybody who attended...... I mean.... Just look at that illuminated cloud... who couldn't love an opportunity like that... :-)

If your club would like a dedicated workshop, please feel free to get in touch.. :-)
