A few from our last morning in Fort William back in April. It was a windy night in the lodge and the weather was changeable so before heading home took a quick trundle up towards the CIC hut as far as I had time to catch first light on the north face of . Caught these just after sunrise as sun briefly arrived before the next storm arrived. Make sure to swipe to the split images.

We finally got away for a wee break to Fort William and an opportunity to get the camera out. The first a few shots of fleeting light on an early morning dander up the beautiful . Archie’s first dander into the unknown.

One of the most stunning days we’ve had in the mountains in a long time. We had headed up to Glen Lyon in late December only because of the lack of petrol pennies and to get these two out of the way. Only had the 24-105 with me and as per the last 6 months it started in a clag fest. However approaching the summit of Creag Mhor the sun started to look quite bright through the clag. Then it opened up, the frost laden summits surrounded on all sides by inversion clouds. These were taken at sunset on . Got to be honest wasn’t expecting this. I was on the wide featureless summit so tried to line up the mountains with the long end of the 24-105 looking over to Ben Cruachan ridge’s bat ears in the distance.

Have I mentioned my obsession since our fist trip to Harris? I think there’s more photos I love from the two days spent on Harris than from the last five months put together. Usually I like bolder edits but this one looked so good with a much softer approach. The hazy golden light catching the s bends leading you out to the coastline and the amazing sky. Just had to stop and take a photo.

Our trip to Glencoe early December wasn’t quite as hoped. Lack of light for three days and a wee bit damp. First time I’ve ever been away and not done a Munro. However when in Glencoe…… found this little scene just up from the meetings of the three waters. No seen photos from here so thought I’d give it a bash. Not sure if they work, let me know what you think and if you do what’s your favourite.

Wishing everyone who has taken the time to look at my snaps a great and hearty 2026. A wee one from our 2025 trip to Skye, Harris and St Kilda. No guessing where this was taken. The golden light had disappeared so spent a bit of time trying to find patterns in the waves while my travel pal reduced our supply of gin.

When Archie said he wanted to go to hotel in the mountains with the pool for his birthday we couldn’t refuse. Obviously the pool was the carrot but could never say no to a trip to one of my favourite places, Glencoe. The weather has been a bit meh so headed down to the s bends as figured best chance of getting a decent shot. And here it is. Sure could do with either some light or drama on the three sisters but hey gotta work with what you’ve got.

A wee one from the Borders while I catch up on editing. Evening side light on from Gala Hill. Managed to take the camera with me to work in October and snuck up one early evening to have a look at the view over to surrounded by turning trees. Tried a wider shot but didn’t really work however think their might be a portrait in here bringing in the Eildon hills in the background. Will try again! Shot on the 70-200 at full reach

A little combo from the brothers ridge looking across towards the to the glorious early morning light illuminating ridges, peaks and rock formations against the shadowy recesses and below the incoming layer of clag! I find myself more and more getting caught in two minds to carry supplies or photography gear. With the plan of going onto Ciste Dubhe I had taken extra walking gear but with the ridge just across the glen I was able to pick these out with the far end of the forever with me 24-105. Should I shorten the routes and concentrate on the photos or at 185 get the 282 Munro’s finished?

It has been a while since we’ve had a mountain pic. Hopefully this is worth the wait. I’ve been out a few times but the weather has just been £*c #!n& €%!t. So to bring up the move into double Munro figures remaining we headed up to one of my favourite places, . It looked like again she would deliver with a beautiful start but the clag again came in for much of the day combined with a few snow flurries and some heavy gusts. After the brothers ridge we crossed over onto prolonging the day in hope of light and views. And on the final part of the decent finally it briefly exploded lighting up this little glen heading back onto the as the clag lifted. Too wide for the 24-105 and not wanting to go into the soaking pack for the 14-35 and lose the last remaining roll to diva dog went for the handheld pano. Think it was the right decision. It was a good roll.
