Braw Lads Gathering - Investiture
The Investiture of the Braw Lad and the Braw Lass is traditionally held on the Friday night. At this ceremony, they both receive their sashes, which will be worn during the next 24 hours. The evening is the precursor for the Braw Lads’ Gathering. Such is this ceremonies importance that many visiting Principals from the Border towns are present to witness and play their part in the ceremony.

This is a chance for everyone in Galashiels to show their creativity and join in the fun. Prizes are awarded to the various categories.
6.15pm Judging at St Margaret's Primary School
7.15pm Parade leaves St Margaret's Primary School
8.00pm Parade meets horses, then heads through town

The small set from tonight.

The Braw Lads Gathering, Torwoodlee ride-out, during which the Principals and mounted supporters undertake the traditional visit to Torwoodlee estate, and visit the Laird of Gala, and seek to take a “Sod & Stone” from the Tower on the Estate to be used at the Ceremonies on Braw Lads Day later in the week.

Almost 150 riders take part in the Braw Lads Gathering annual ride-out to the former Kirk at Lindean, near Selkirk.
The Braw Lad Ruaridh Anderson lays a wreath as a mark of remembrance on the site of the former Kirk and the Preachers' Cross.

Braw Lads Principals Fording the River Tweed at GalaFoot Bridge, led by Principal Marshal, Ex Braw Lass Amy Thomson, as nearly 150 horses followed the rideout.
Taking part in the Braw Lads' Gathering annual ride-out to the former Kirk at Lindean, near Selkirk.

PEEBLES BELTANE FESTIVAL - The Beltane Queen Crowning Ceremony - Red Letter Day
Just a small selection of images from the morning in Peebles.

Saturday is the highlight of the week for all those involved in the Beltane. This is what the Beltane Queen has been waiting for since she was first told five weeks previously that she was to be the one being crowned. This is the ‘big day’ for the Crowning Lady, but most of all this is the ‘big day’ for nearly five hundred school children who have been given costumes to wear with pride when they march down the High Street; stand on the Church steps, watch while the Beltane Queen is being crowned, and then show their enjoyment by waving and cheering from decorated lorries as they parade through the town.
